was the great Jalmard from Holland or just play with a Dutch side?
What nationalities have played with Limerick?
Obviously Irish. Billy Hamilton is from Nothern Ireland but for me that's still Irish. Chris Jones and Brian Flynn are Welsh. Darko Bakic is Croat. Darren Young from NZ. Andy McEvoy and Ewan Fenton were Scottish.Tony Izzi is Irish is he - just Italian extraction? Gary Hulmes is English.
So far then:
Irish
English
Scottish
Welsh
Croatian
New Zealand
We've had a couple from Kerry as well, but they're a differnet species not a different nationality.
Any more? Gary and JoeSoap will have a few I reckon.

Didn't Alban Hysa play for Limerick, Albanian I think.

Andy McEvoy was from Bray. Ewan Fenton was a Scotsman from Dundee all right. Ally dawson was another Scot.
We had a Hungarian in the 50's next to check the name, there was a Romanian in the 80's but I don't think he played in the first team.
very funny..looking forward to our trip to tolka..should be very interesting !Originally Posted by WeAreRovers
In fairness I owned up to stealing it originally (which Rovers fans can't do it seems) but someone edited the title.Originally Posted by WeAreRovers

Yes. We had a Frenchman. Stephane Jauny. Remember him?![]()
If you don't like John 3:7...
There's always Limerick 37!
Wasnt there an Italian guy signed a few years back form a club in serie C. I think he was a loan signing. Im not sure if he played though.
we had a german right winger about 6 years back,alan......?can't remember his surname
Leonardo Trenchin.
Anybody remember this guy? About 12 years ago??
He was Argentinean. Came on as a substitute, looked good when the ball was nowhere near him. First time he got the ball he was absolutely nailed, fairly, but violently, by the opposing full back, and stayed away from the ball until the final whistle.
Never saw him again.
As im from Kerry i just wasnt to say that stevie o mahony( ex-irish youth international captain) james sugrue(ex-irish international) david conway (limeriock young player of the year in his first year), another species i dont tink so and y would u dis three exellent young players who gave everyting wen wearing the limerick city jersey unlike players plyin now e.g kevin waters john lester to name a few?? Kerry now have four professional footballers in england with clubs Celtic Sunderland Everton Arsenal youth captain and Notts forest. So LFC in exile give taut before u speak bout our players in kerry.

Limfan: I Think you will find that the Kerry comment was said with Tongue in Cheek.
Noobdy ever doubted the lads Fine Footballers all of them. BTW don't forget Timmy Lynch or now Stephen Conway (Lim U21) either.
btw Please dont use Text Speak when posting. It's bad enough trying to unravel Gaels' meanderings not to mind another fella joining the club.
I will send You all a copy of "Eats Shoots and Leaves" for Christmas

Even leaving aside the fact that you completely misread the intention of the original post (and left out Chris Kearns & Timmy Lynch btw) I couldn't leave the criticism of the two players you named stand. Lester in particular has bust his proverbialOriginally Posted by limfan

Also, who the fu<k are Limerick City FC when they're at home if we're going to be pendantic?
As for the original aim of the post...
The Italian lad mentioned from a couple of years ago never played competitively for us, just a few pre-season games, there was a Nigerian in the same boat as well just before Mike Kerley's second year.
There was a Slovak on the bench several times last year (a feat Darko Bakic never achieved) call Kupec or something to that effect. Don't think he ever made it onto the pitch though.
The ball is round and has many surprises.
