Seems like an intelligent chap. His comments about Lyon show he's no fool. I've never seen the lad play, is he any good?

Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.

Kompany is quality, although he was injured for much of last season and Anderlecht still managed to win the title. He is already a total legend in Belgium, probably the most popular man in the country. There was a bit of surprise that Hamburg managed to get him cheap enough considering Barca had been after him and everyone expected Anderlecht to get mega-bucks for him.

As for his comments, he is not afraid to voice his opinion on a whole range of issues. He's very media friendly and hugely popular.

    Kompany : Chelsea ' a factory'

Kompany joining Hamburg makes perfect sense. He is going there from Anderlecht in Belgium. The adjustment from playing in a country where Flemish is spoken ( by about 56% of the population) to one where German is the principal language is not that much of a stretch. Going to the Dutch Eere Divisie is not an option because for many years the clubs in Belgium have been able to trump the Dutch ones in terms of salaries. (e.g. Robbie Rensenbrink Dutch 1974 World Cup team played most of his career in Belgian League)

What he says about Chelsea is spot on look at what has happened to Shaun Wright-Phillips, and what might happen to Damien Duff in the near future?
The English Premiership may be the second wealthiest League in the World.
But as the Wealthiest League is probably in one of the Gulf states is anyone going to seriously tell me that the Qatar or UAE League is the best in the World? No and neither is the English Premiership the best League in the World.
2 Champions League wins in 14 years says all you need to know .

Compare that to the Spanish Primera Liga and Serie A.. not even mapped.

Strange, I stayed in a hotel with a distant view of Stamford Bridge and I thought I was looking at a factory and only realised what it was when I walked past it later.

The World according to the British media is solely the UK. It's as if it has it's own planet. So the Premiership is the best league in the UK world.
