Agree with the general consensus that 'Premiership' is utterly abysmal. Don't like Serie Eire too much either. el Punter's plain 'League of Ireland' is definitely what I'm rooting for.

    Or even,

"The Interdepartmentally Choreographed Premier League of Ireland" perhaps...

premiership is a bad idea for a name. but then again since when does the view/opinions of supporters count for anything. if the EPL was called something else then the 'bigwigs' at the fai would been suggesting that as the name for our league too. doesnt matter. will always been known as Eircom league (assuming dont change sponsor) so simply it'll be Eircom Premier League. oh on a side note ? how many of those involved in restructing and taking over the league attend EL games ?

The upside of this is that the FAI can make money out of internationals and use it to send officers along with the players on junkets, *ahem*, sorry, to assist the team abroad.

    Sure we're nearly there already.

The only problem would be what to do with all the world class facilities that the Irish football authorities have invested in over the years.
How about we call the new setup - "The Coca Cola Football League 3"

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Best suggestion, I think. Coincidentally the same as we have! Also quite like "League of Ireland", but then what we have is just a contraction really.

Would quite like a distinctly Irish name, but none of the ones mentioned have been catchy enough. If anyone comes up with anything decent, the NLSA will pass it on to the FAI at our next meeting! Though it looks as if the name is set in stone at this stage really.

Yeah your right Stu but even though the names mentioned so far have been pretty poor I think most people will agree on anyting but the Premiership

    I know, slow day!
I think the Big 10 (English title) is not a bad suggestion - it sounds ambitious!

What about the Uberliga? If we have to steal from some other country why not nick a phrase they( in his case the Germans) don't use themselves.

Uberliga = Is German for Overleague, which give the proposed new structure , this new Division will be at the head of a pyramid, With Under 21 , A League and First Division propping it up. Reasons for using German 1./ We are in the EU and there are 90 million German seakers in it 2/ Economically since we floated our own currency our Interest rates have been impacted by German ones and latterly the European Central Bank 3/ It's not pandering to West Britness 4/ We might attract more German/Austrian/Swiss tourists to our football during the summer

Very good there's an " Atmosphere" at most games.
In the First Division you experience "Isolation" ;"She's Lost Control Again" describes Rhona Daly refereeing at games.
And most EL fans" love "for their own clubs " Will Tear Us Apart Again"

Plus if you tune in to RTE Radio one you can get a "Radio Live Transmission" thought its unlikely that a full league round will be completed in "24 hrs"

Yes but the league will still be an "unknown pleasure" to most barstoolers, which will make all the clubs go bust causing massive "disorder" and we will all be left in the "wilderness," until we finally develop some "New Order" in Irish football
