There was a game tonight, you know....

In case nobody noticed in amongst all the bitchn' and gurning that seems to have engulfed this site, there was a League Cup quarter-final tonight.

Almost 3 hrs after the final whistle and not a mention of it on here. Predictably I'm sure those with no team left in it will say they don't care about it, but it is the quarter-finals of one of our 3 main trophies none-the-less.

Shels 4, Harps 1. Wee buns by the sounds of it. Please can City not get yet another game against Shels in the next round.....

Can't believe I've had to rely on Errortel for the score.

When's the draw for the semi's?

    Bohs
    Limerick
    Derry
    Shels

Wouldn't mind the Lims at home. We beat them in the semi's 4-1 the last time we qualified for the final in '04.

I reckon Derry will play Shels at some stage.

That's what Drogheda said twice recently, and they lost. As Limerick are better than Bohs atm, they would have to be favourites, especially if playing at home.

I am more surprised was little discussion of Derry beating Drogs 4-0.

Do the winners get into the Setanta Cup.
Or will the play off situation the FAI want to bring in start this season?

Shels Derry seems to happen every few weeks these days but it beats playing the likes of Finn Harps and a crowd of 306
    John Delaney!! GET OUT!!!

No discussion, as it isn't that surprising a result....

Versus the other Top 4 teams recently we've beaten Cork comprehensively in the league, lost on a last minute goal away to Shels (who had failed to beat us in their previous 9 attempts), and now when we finally get a chance to play the Drogs we wollop them 4:0 (they were under strength, but then so were we...).

If only we could avoid dropping points to the likes of Sligo and Home Farm then we'd be top with 2 games in-hand.....

Sligo dropping points at Turners Cross and the Brandywell is no great surprise.

City dropping points at Sligo and Home Farm is.

Hence, your scenario is much more fantastical... (chuffed I've found a use for that word on foot.ie).... !

I hope Lims get a home draw since they are the last Munster team in it and the underdogs to win the competition.
