Derry City played League of Ireland football on Sunday afternoons in the 1980's surely that set some kind of precedent?
Spot on Lux. At a time when our league needs as many options to flourish as possible, the backwoodsmen score another own goal.Originally Posted by Lux Interior

Anyway, I believe this matter will find it's way to the Equality Commission in the near future.
Whilst they're sorting this crap out, they may want to consider if sports played traditionally on a Sunday discriminate against fundamentalists.![]()

The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild
And this is what we sang...

Don't think there were too many Free Presbyterians running around the Brandywell or supporting Derry City for it to make a difference.Originally Posted by CollegeTillIDie

its not a law,its merely an ifa rule that bans sunday football. so derry playing league of ireland on sundays is irrelevant, it sets no precedent for anyone in the ifa/ni

You may be surprised to know that Derry City were involved in that recent moves to remove the IFA ban on Sunday football.
A few years back Derry City were due to host Cliftonville in a friendly. The game was scheduled for a Sunday. The IFA blocked the game because it still fell within their jurisdiction. Following that the Members of Cliftonville brought a proposal to their next AGM that Cliftonville would raise this at the IFA every year until the rule was revoked.
Have they done so?Originally Posted by Mr_Parker
Nearly but not quite as you know from my wrath on ILF after a previous IFA AGM.. While for example like this season the proposal may not have come directly from Cliftonville, the club were aware that it would be on the agenda therefore replica motions were not required.Originally Posted by David
I thought I recalled something from ILF but was genuinely not sure which was why I asked.Originally Posted by Mr_Parker
