    U-21 Dublin league

Began yesterday, I think, with Pat's winning 4-1 against the Sh!te College. We're up against Pat's on Saturday. Pre-season form hasn't been great, but it was like that as well last year and we retained our title. Touch wood for three-in-a-row this year! Will try and use this thread to keep the season up-to-date.

Is the team stronger or weaker than before?

No idea really. We should be getting in the next bunch of scholarship students about now, which would strengthen it up from the Shield team anyway. Presumably we'll use the U-21s to keep the bench players match-fit too, which would mean we'd have a couple of first-team players in there as well on occasion - maybe Cawley/Dicker/Hurley.

First result - UCD 6-0 Pat's. Superb result against a team who are usually well up in the running and who topped out division last year, beating us in Belfield and knocking us out of the Enda McGuill Cup. Think that's some questions about the team answered! Goalscorers - Ciarán Quinn (pen), John Brophy (2), P Kavanagh, og (2)

    Results to date -

    Pat's 4-1 Trinity
    Bray 1-3 Dublin City
    Bohs 0-2 Bray
    Dublin City 0-3 Shamrock Rovers
    Trinity 1-1 Crumlin United
    UCD 6-0 Pat's

    League table -

    Code:
    Team	P	W	D	L	F	A	GD	Pts

    Bray 2	1	0	1	3	3	0	3
    D City	2	1	0	1	3	4	-1	3
    Pat's 2	1	0	1	4	7	-3	3
    Crumlin	1	0	1	0	1	1	0	1
    Trinity	2	0	1	1	2	5	-3	1

Tremendous result. As you say, Pat's have been our main challenge in this region along with Bray. I expected a narrow win at best. Two own goals is a bit weird. I asked Maccer if Brophy was still around this pre-season, well there he is. Wonder what age he is as I thought he was too old to stay on another year.

Mullet, they say great minds think alike, but I think simple ones probably do so more often.

That's impressive form. Bray and Shels should prove sterner tests though. Brophy is showing Paul Byrne-esque scoring form.

Thank you John. I'm aware what that part of the message meant.

I'm just curious as to how a simple 1-0 defeat for Tiniry to Bray can bring so much happiness!

Well Trinity are out oldest rivals in Sport, and Bray are our local rivals. When either of them lose it's fun!

Glad to see Ciaran Quinn can actually manage to score at least one goal, but surely our U-21s must have better players than him

Where'd you hear that?! And how did he do that?!

    Other results - Crumlin 2-2 Pat's

And we've drawn Pat's in the League Cup, apparently.

    Table -
    Code:
    Team	P	W	D	L	F	A	GD	Pts
    UCD	3	3	0	0	12	0	12	9
    Pat's	4	2	1	1	10	10	0	7
    Rovers	3	2	0	1	6	3	3	6
    Bray	3	2	0	1	4	3	1	6
    Shels	1	1	0	0	1	0	1	3
    D City	4	1	0	3	4	9	-5	3
    Crumlin	2	0	2	0	3	3	0	2
    Trinity	3	0	1	2	2	6	-4	1
    Kildare	0	0	0	0	0	0	0	0
    Bohs	3	0	0	3	2	10	-8	0
    Scorers -
    6 - John Brophy
    2 - own goals
1 - Kieran Harte, Pat Kavanagh, Damien Kelly, Ciarán Quinn
