But is it actually that long or does it just feel that long?

When you're in a rush, it feels every traffic light feels is red. But obviously that's not the case.

How about yellow = sin bin 10 minutes, dissent, no card but free brought forward 10 yds or if offending player has been awarded free it then is give to the other side, and also time out all like 6 nations rugby. Well worth an experiment. I guarantee far less yellows, far fewer players suspended for 2 yellows and much less dissent.

What's wrong with yellows and suspensions? That rule would bring about far more instances of 10 v 11 (or indeed 10 v 10 or 9 v 10) and wouldn't really do much with regards dissent. The 10-yard rule was used a couple of years ago to no appreciable effect (though I still think it's a good rule).

if every time a player gave disent in the world cup we would have seen a fair few frees become penalties, a lot of frees reversed when players were trying to get other players booked etc, i honestly believe if rigidly enforced like in gaa and rugby it would work. I dont ever remember seen it happen more than onve in a game and even then its onvce in a blue moon!

Didn't say I disagreed with it - just that it had been tried and not done that much.

I'd still be in favour of it, but there's more to be done to rid the game of dissent than just that. If it's even possible at this stage.

Player goes down, no free given, the 4th official sends on the physio when the ball is moved on and play continues as in Rugby. This will stop it 100%. Of course when it's a real injury the player is getting immediate attention, not waiting til the ball goes out of play.

Also in favour of the stop clock idea. Both would be acceptable and stop a lot of the stupidity in the game at the moment.
The above is all opinion and based on personal experience. Unless stated otherwise it is not a dig at anybody, well probably none of you lot.

Going a bit off topic but what really annoys me is when a team is on the attack and one of their players goes down injured. They continue to play on but if they lose the ball and the player is still down they want the ball to be put out of play.

As i said on the cheating thread. I'd very much like to see the 'throw in' law enforced. The most blatant and consistant act of cheating throughout the game of football at all levels imo.
