    United v Harps

Interesting game to say the least.Cousins first game in charge and we're off the back of a great performance against Rovers.
Harps are no great shakes by any means but they'll be tough to beat in Ballybofey. In their last match they were beaten by Kilkenny in Buckley Park so we really should be looking for the 3 points especially with Rovers winning last night.
It's up to the lads to make sure they implement the same attitude and passion as was evident in the last match and not one similar of the Mels humiliation!
I'd expect us to pick up the 3 points and i'd really love to stuff Harps. We've been unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of a 5 goal hammering to Harps in Terryland before. This is our year........let Harps know they haven't a chance!
Having said that 1-0 will do just fine.

    Up the Tribal Army!!!

We should win this going on form, but after the break Im sure some of the 5 or 6 players that were out injured for harps will be back again. Saying that, the July transfer window is apon us and it is well known that Tony will be bringing in a few players too, so it is up to the players that they are good enough for his view of a first division winning team.

Im going for a 3-1 win to united

We have a good few missing

with injuries and suspensions. Franny and Foley are suspended while Dowdy and Barry are injured so the central midfield and forward line will be weakened.
Its never easy in Finn Park but i think we will shade by the odd goal in 3.

    if not for the injuries

and suspensions i would have said we'd win around 2-0 maybe, but they are important players who are missing, its up in donegal and last but not least when ppl here start talking about us winning 3-1 etc i get nervous,COZ WE NEVER DO WIN THEN.rovers won last night so we gotta kp matching their results at the very least.
stern john who scored the only goal for coventry in terryland last august was playing in the world cup for trinidad, very freaky to see that, avery john was playing too, remember him?????

Teamnews:: Finn Harps V Galway United

Tony Cousins will take charge of his first United game when the Tribesmen travel to Donegal to take on Finn Harps. Cousins must plan without the suspended Fran Carter who scored against Harps in the controversial one all draw in Terryland last March. Also out is Ciaran Foley who is serving the final suspension of his two match ban.
Raf Cretaro is a long term injury and is unlikely to take to the pitch again until late July as he recovers from a broken jaw. Also out is Ryan O'Donnell who had a knee op on Friday. Nicky Curran is out with an achilles injury and Derek O'Brien (calf) and Barry Moran (ankle) are both doubtful. David O'Dowd is still out with a knee injury he sustained against Athlone Town on April 14th. Three u21 players will be drafted into the squad, Michael Kennedy, Liam McKenna and Ross Gildea.

lads,ye have only 12 senior players, the rest are u-21s with at least 2 of those U-18.
BTW,Ross Gildea is in the squad because they want to make sure the bench is full but he wont be playing.
He sells programmes in the Showgrounds, seriously!!!
he wa with rovers for a while last season, dont think he played one game fo rthe underage side though.
think ye need a few more senior players when transfer window opens

Thanks for the info Stars. Dessie has brought down what looks like a large percentage of the sligo youth squads.

Cousins has a lot of players in mind who he knows will play for him. The first rumour yesterday in town was that Leech was joining us on loan for the rest of the season from Drogheda

    No need Stars.
Game of 2 halves really and ironically UTD dominated the 1st.We controlled the game for large periods in the 1st half and had a few good chances.Dave Cokke managed to blaze the ball off the crossbar from 6 yards with an open goal at his mercy!
Harps got 2 soft goals.the defence was a mess all night particularily Nigel Keady who was substituted at half time.
Tough place to go and win but we should be beating the likes of Harps in truth.

Also was speaking to Raf after the match and he reckons it will be at least 6 weeks before he's back in action with end of August more probable.

Yup well that's what Raf said.At least 6 weeks but more than likely end of August.
We laos had a goal disallowed in this match aswell......also in the 1st half!!

BTW The 16 of us made more noise than the 250 harps fans. One of the worst match atmosphere's ive ever been at!Absoloutely Shocking!
