    Thumbs down Players Diving

Seems to be a big part of todays game.
I find it hard to watch games in the World Cup at the moment because
every miniute of every game that i have watched some player is on the ground
holding their leg as if they were shot by the sniper in the back of the crowd.Just wondering if anyone else out there finds themself shouting at the tele for the players to get up of the ground..Seriously, its a big problem and is going to get worse IMO.

If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later

Its not going to change anytime soon either because refs are too lenient on it. Both linesmen and refs should be watching out for it and booking players automatically. They amy get one or two decisions wrong but overall it would help.

If someone dives twice in a match and gets sent off they'l think twice before diving the next time

There is no ore diving in this world cup than any other football match on the planet. Just more tv camera angles to see everything & endless media analysis.

Its an overall problem though not just in the WC. I do think the WC is a good place to start stamping down on it though with everyone watching

Suppose ur right saying that there are more camera's and that, but even players staying down when there is Fook all wrong with them. Its a complete joke at this stage. Are the days of the hard man on the pitch gone??just say the likes of Neil Ruddock of Vinny Jones were playing nowadays what would happen then..Theres nothing wrong with a hard tackle now and then, if a player can't take a challenge them IMO he shouldn't be playing, he should take up another sport like fishing, maybe they might be able for fishing tackle.

It may look as there is an epidemic but as most of are watching English football primarily we don't see the level that it has reached in South America and some of the leagues in Europe.
A friend of mine who is Brazilian says that this is part and parcel of the game there and the justification is to win at all costs. He says that football improves from this as players learn not to dive in and give away frees and penalties, Lucas Neill take note. He says that football in Brazil is more free flowing as players are not flying into each other when there is little chance of winning the ball or the opponent is going to go down at the first touch he feels.
    I'll update this next year.

Fair enough, but saying win at all costs, is that not cheating if they are diving. Maybe in Brazil they do have free flowing football, BUT and this is a big BUT, why should a player get book/sent off because another player is rolling around Faking injury, and few seconds later running as if nothing happened in the first place...They should be thrown out of the game for cheating.

If players were banned afterwards through TV evidence, the diving would be gone from the game in next to no time.

Diving Players' managers and team mates need to take repsonsibility also and condemn the action not "I didn't see the incident".

Its too easy to blame refs for not being tough enough, but I have a certain sympathy with them, they are trying to be conned and law of averages says it will work on occasion. Its a poor reflection on society 'that this win at all costs' mentality is adopted by many and condoned by the majority.

    Ya probably.
Henry made me angry but negative football upsets me more than diving.
Fair dues to Germany but the World Cup lost a lot of my interest today.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

One of the Argentina players - I can't remember who - was booked today for diving ... looking at the replay you could see him going down before the defender made the tackle!!

If you're talking about Rodriguez, it looked to me like there was genuine contact that brought him down; defender was going for the ball, but missed it and got him. A penalty would have been harsh, but I don't think it was a dive.
