Ipswich Town, Wednesday 12th July.
I heard over the weekend that Galway united are to Play Ipwich Town in a friendly in Terryland. The game is planned for mid July
Ipswich Town, Wednesday 12th July.
Good match, good few irish playing for them.
have a mid-week game home to Cobh that week?
July 7 Home 7.45pm Kildare County
TBC Home 7.45pm Cobh
July 15 Away 7.30pm Kilkenny City
was just going to post the same thing
Yes, we will be playing Cobh on Tuesday, Ipswich on Wednesday, Kilkenny on Saturday. I can only presume that TC will be fielding fringe players plus U21s vs Ipswich.
MMM, a lot of people who would consider going IMO, would like to see a competitive match from a GUFC team that are household names! I hope this doesnt hit the attendance for the match, plus with the kildare match the previous friday, it would mean paying in for 3 matches in a five day period for supporters who aren't season ticket holders
The glass is half-full, Terry, not half-empty !
Any season ticket holders, particularly those who purchased before Christmas, are getting great value. We will be doing a promotion for the Ipswich Town friendly on Tuesday 27th in Terryland (home game vs Dundalk)
which will give added incentive for supporters.
I would expect Ipswich to bring at least 100 supporters, going on previous friendlies, plus we should attract the barstool/"any English football is better than the EL" element. There are also some Ipswich supporters in Ireland who may attend. I know two in Galway.
For hardcore United supporters, the game may not be a classic, but GUFC are not in a position to turn away opponents of the calibre of Ipswich Town. When have we last played a team that have won a major European trophy ?
You're playing one at the weekend. If the Irish News Cup doesn't count as a major European trophy I don't know what does. I mean Ballymena were in it and everything.
Are Finn Harps the only club in the world to have won the Irish News Cup
and the First Division Shield (sadly, not in the same year) ?
We never won the first division shield, but we are current champions of the first division cup.
We're definately the only club to have done that!
