Glentoran play Brann, another tough one.

By the way, both EL clubs in uefa cup play first leg away.

extremely tough draws! So much for raising the coefficients! I'll still be cheering them on though!

I think the UEFA Cup draw went well for both teams. They are unseeded and were never going to get a walkover game.

They are middle of the range seeds and you cant ask for much more then that. Least they avoided Denmark and Norway. Its not as bad as it could be.

I would fancy Cork to beat Nicosia, with the help of the summer football factor, and give Belgrade a run for their money as well. Their opponents are better technically, but summer football is a great leveller for our sides in Europe. Besides, Cork were dismissed as no-hopers when they played their qualifying rounds last year, against teams who play summer football. It depends on Rico's tactics on the day, as much as the quality of the opposition.

I think Cork have a good chance of getting through their tie. They (Cypriots) are out of season and they are no better than teams who Cork knocked out of European competition before.

Drogheda are equal to the Finnish team if not better. Playing the away league first is a big advantage and I would expect Drogheda to get through.

Derry have the hardest match. Göteborg are one of the top sides in Sweden but they haven't been great this season (perhaps because of behind the scenes tax scandals) and they have lost some good players in the off-season. So there is a chance for Derry to go through.

I think Drogs have got ok draw as Finns not much above our level.

Swedes are still cocky feckers & i would love it if an eL side did a hattrick after Malmo & Djungardens last 2 seasons. You would think Gotenborg would be warned but i wouldn't bet on it & they will not be as good as Djungardens.

While Apollon is a hard enough draw thats the price of not getting a draw at home to Slavia Prague last year, i think they don't start their season til end of August so heres hoping. At the moment i would be very happy to make the 2nd qualifying round & see how it goes in the 2nd round.

Overall definitely the hardest combined draw in recent years. In fact Shels have easier route the Uefa Cup 1st round via the Inter Toto Cup.

Could have been Apollon - they won 2-1 in Cyprus and 3-0 in Derry. Derry were a much poorer team though and had only qualified as Cup winners.

Three tough draws. Cork have the European experience but seem to have a weaker squad this time around. There's no reason why they can't qualify given the teams they've knocked out in recent years, but the Cypriots will start favourites. Derry are doing well, but so are Goteburg. But then, eL teams (well, Cork) have beaten Swedish teams in the last two meetings. Drogheda have very little European experience and haven't looked good at all this season when they've been behind (though granted that's been fairly rare!), but the Finnish team's posibly the weakest of the three opponents.

Still, we're up one place in the rankings after dropping 2001/02 (drawn level with Belarus). I think Iceland is the only country we can realistically catch this year, and Belarus the only ones who can pass us out. They're two countries to watch too.

Did the eL teams get knocked out of the seedings because Sweden and Norway won the Fair Play award?

Not a bad draw for Derry I think.

In the last 2 years Cork have beaten the eventual Swedish champions in mid season and netither team was any great shakes to be honest. City deserved to win both ties.

Swedish clubs seem to be very cocky so if Derry have the right attitude and play as well as they I think they have a good chance.

HJK are the most succesful Finnish team by far.

They're currently 8yh in a 13 team league after 8 games. Drogs have a chance.

Gothenburg are 4th in their league

Shame we're not playing them then, since you have such faith in our ability to beat them. How do you think we'll get on against Apollon Limassol?

I don't believe Ryanair deliberately change those prices. I think its all just automatic in that the less seats left the higher the price. Try to book 1 ticket on any ryanair flight in say 1-2 months time, note price, now try to book 20 tickets on the same flight - price is much higher as increases gradually as more tickets bought.

Cyprus a real pain to travel to unless able to book a full week.

Well im taking a slightly longer way now, Derry, Standsted - Gothenburg same back again with a 7 hour stop over in london on the way back.

Most Derry fans 3 years ago went for 2 weeks!

I would rate both Odense and Hibernians higher than the two teams Derry and Drogheda drew in the UEFA Cup 1st Qualifying Round so I hardly think its the easier route.
