Didnt Bobby Charlton, Gordon Banks and Jimmy Greaves play the odd game in the 70s ?
Probably done before (though I don't remember it), but how many players have played in the League of Ireland and in the World Cup? I don't want to include either (a) Irish players or (b) players who ended their career here for easy money. Preferably players who played here before playing in the World Cup.
Avery John is the obvious example - Trinidad & Tobago and Longford/Bohs/Pat's (?). There's also Dave Norman - Canada (1986) and UCD (1983-1985).
Any others spring to mind?

I think that Joeseph Ndo was at the World Cup in 2002 but I don't think he played![]()
Ndo was at 1998 and 2002 world cups. never got on the pitch
They did (not sure about Greaves) but point (b) I made specifically excluded them.Originally Posted by stojkovic
You could add in plenty of others - Trevor Brooking, Geoff Hurst, Uwe Seeler, Peter Lorimer and others.

I'm fairly sure Ndo played all three games at France '98.
A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.

A guy by the name of Ken Ottelar was in the Nigerian Squad for France 98 but not sure if he played. He was with Sligo for 2 seasons I think.
Zinedine Zidane played a season with Mountshannon Celtic in the Clare under 14 league back in the 80s.
His name was Zinedine O'Malley then though.
Not in '98 he wasn't anyway. See my link above.Originally Posted by The Stars

I think he's referring to the common urban legend that Socrates played for UCD in the 70s.
