Sounds like a wind-up to me.
...if you wear a Leinster jersey to the match, according to a poster on the Derry forum. Says he's seen posters in Ballsbridge. Anyone else seen these? Interesting promo!
Sounds like a wind-up to me.
Dunno about that necessarily. Yer man lives in Dublin and isn't a new poster (in fact, he's on here too, I think). The club's talking about wanting to follow in Leinster's path - family-orientated, Saturday afternoons, etc. I think it'd be a good promo, to be honest.
Did you see the poster on the forum? I'll wear mine and see do I get in for free!

There was a rumour about this at the Ireland game, I thought?Originally Posted by Poor Student

If we do some sort of link up with Leinster rugby club that would be ****e, 2 different sports with 2 different sorts of fans lets keep it like that
We are the U the U the UCDD!!!!
This is true. The idea is to get Leinster fans whose season ended last week to latch on to UCD in their off-season. If it gets more people to the game on Friday it can only be a good thing.
I've seen posters in Donnybrook and Dundrum too BTW.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
Bolox, it might look good for our genesis masters but i dont see a bunch of rugger buggers chanting trinity shíte, prawn sandwich brigade can go leach on to some other club weve enough of them as it is
We are the U the U the UCDD!!!!
If we only let people into the ground who would sing, there'd be the twelve of us plus a few away fans at each game. Anything that boosts the club's local profile is good. Anything that could attract some long term fans, vocal or not, is good.Originally Posted by lefty

How are a bunch of rugby heads going to boost our profile? They wont come back after this free in offer. Its a stupid marketing ploy to make us look less shít for the cameras.

And serious rugger heads won't bother coming. There's plenty of Leinster fans who are football fans too - particularly kids. Get them to one game - live on telly too - and they might come back. Plus, we get to make a killing on jersey sales 'cos we know loads of people are going to be jerseyless!![]()
These would be the jerseys that O'Neill's haven't bothered making yet?Originally Posted by pineapple stu

Word is they'll be here on Friday! That's what I was told last week anyway...
I sure hope so. I've been waiting ages for them to be delivered!
Surely anyone in a UCD shirt should also be admitted for free. It's an intriguing if slightly odd offer. Lefty, some of our own such as Bald Student, Student Mullet (not quite as enthusiastic as Bald it must be said), Schumi and Aberdonian Stu are rugby fans. I detest the sport myself but any bodies we can get in is fine by me. The Leinster prawn sandwich brigade you speak of are not likely to turn up. Pineapple is correct, alot of the younger kids are rugby fans too. Leinster are the best supported sporting club (that play in Dublin!) in the whole region. If we rule out overlapping support then we're ruling out a lot of people. My personal feeling is that we'll barely see this taken up by people over the age of 12 but lets see how it goes.
Something official has been announced on it;

Look we are in the heart of rugger bugger land in D4. Surely it makes sense to dip a toe into that potential market and get a few more bums on seats even if only for the summer.
My personal feeling is that we'll see a lot of people who would have attended anyway attending in a rugby shirt to get in for free. Since we're getting 4,000 euro from setanta to compensate us for the *cough* loss in gate *cough* we can afford to try to boost the crowd by letting people in for free.Originally Posted by Poor Student
