racing lodge if you want to find out the new boss. Dolers is very unlikely to get the job the ego was too big.Funny i cant see him getting a managers job anywhere again unless he buys the club.
that dolan, cousins and buckley are the 3 front runners and its been decided in next day or 2 but not announced till around friday,if someone knows before that then its prob best not to say it here and let the offical site get all the "hits".therell be plenty of time to discuss it here after its announced.is what i heard true, has someone else heard the same?

Let it go gufct we all know you dont like Dolan at this stage! Its not him but i reckon its got to be someone with a higher profile than Buckley or Cousins or else there was a poor response to the advert. Great to see the professionalism of the club with a press conference called etc. Lets hope the manager lives up to the clubs standards.Originally Posted by gufct
Dolers as I get on with Pat but i can see beyond his bluster. If he had got the job i would have had serious worries over the future stability of the club after all the inital PR had blown over.
Check out the answers some Cork & Pats fans gave on the league forum to see how he is remembered by them not too pretty reading.
Thanks once again to Lal who had the balls to take on the job something a lot of his detractors around galway were scared of. Good luck to the new man and lets all hope everyone moves on from here and concentrates on getting us promoted this season.
Id be happy with either Dolan or Buckley. Will be heading to the annoucement myself, if any one cannot attend I would suggest tuning into GBFM, or as GUFCT said, monitoring www.galwayunitedfc.ie for further info as I will only post here the link to the abve address when its available. Any body want a lift out?
its good that this is all happening early in the break so the new man can get his teeth into the job before the restart
more water!
Is Drogheda's Tony Cousins in the running?? I think he would be a good one for you, he has learned alot under Doolo am sure. He may also convince his very talented younger brother Andrew to sign for you instead of us too.
Who's his very talented brother Magicme?
Andrew Cousins (Andy).....well he was very good for us in pre-season and we were gutted he couldnt sign due to a technical difficulty!
all in all a good choice, great player excellent technical and coaching ability, drogs fans will agree he was an important part of their set up under Doolin.
I would say he will give it everything and is light years ahead of anyone local in terms of coaching and knowledge.........excellent. he will eek out any shysters or mouths on the panel pretty quickly as well
he has learned nothing from doolin, but thought him a few things about coaching from what I was toldOriginally Posted by Magicme
with me.....even if he does well and we get promoted which would be heaven, the first "big" dublin club that has a managerial crisis like bohs or rovers he will be off to one of those almost immediately, there doesnt seem to be any major long term thinking here, or any major appetite for really throwing down markers to the fai that we are serious about being in the top 12 clubs in the country. Dolan would have automatically created that perception.... is it a missed opportunity? ....nervy
Things like this would happen no matter who we sign, be it cousins or Alex ferguson. If you sign someone good, someone successful, there will always be a bigger club who will eventually need him.
Tony has signed a 2 and a half year contract, which to me, states how successful Nick thinks he will be, considering we have never given such a large contract to anyone ever. If someone want him, they can pay for him.
that was one of the key points in his interview.Too be honest there is far more potential with a succesful provincal club compared to any Dublin club. Just look at the money problems with shels who can barely attract gates in excess of 1,500 despite pushing for honours on all fronts.
Genesis is going to have a dramatic effect on the running of all clubs and Galway have got everything in place and are light years ahead of some clubs so lack of forward planning rigs very hollow. As for Pat Dolan and his sidekick their behaviour last weekend just showed how lucky we were that he didnt get the job as he would have destroyed the club for his own personal gain.
so what happened last weekend and who was the sidekick??
it was your dream team packet. Im sure the streets of galway will have the full story plus tps & tails added on by the time everyone is finished with it suffice to say Pat Dolan will only manage gufc if he buys the club.
the club had a process they followed it to the letter , so fair enough, dont go digging, heaven knows what you will find. mind you i would have thought 2 of the most important criteria looking for a manager would be 1. managerial experience and 2. living in the area
