To be fair, I think a lot of people did complain about this at the time. I certainly couldn't see the point of having a break when none of our players were involved. I don't think any club will go to the wall over it but some clubs will be really stretched.

you simply dont have ANY cash flow during a 3 week lay off - add in away games either side of the break and or postponements - and your looking at anything up to 5-7 weeks without a home game - plus 5-7 weeks you have to pay full and part time players. Most of the clubs are surving the period the exact same way - by building up more debts in the form of bridging loans.
That's exactly the point! This was known well in advance and therefore cash flow should have been managed/planned in advance. The same number of league games as last year in the same period as last year, only the timing is different. And this does not take into account Cup games. Not exactly rocket science!

Surely Lennox did not wake up this week and thought 'Oh Sh*t, we have no money coming in for the next 5/6/8 weeks', although on second thoughts, maybe he did! Nothing would surprise me about CC these days.
Honest! I am not a secret Tim nor a closet Sham - I really am a Seagull.

It doesnt make much difference that you have the same amount of games when you're games have been postponed til after the break. You dont ge the money til after you need it. Most El clubs are run on a very tight budget(or else in big debt) its not that easy just to organise getting 3 weeks extra money.

No one said he only started worrying about it now. He was asked about it in an interview an gave his opinion....he thinks its a bad idea, he's not the only one.

In a way I think this break will do the players good. It would give them a chance to get som rest and come back refreshed and ready to go, but I think its stupid in a way also, because Ireland aren't in the World Cup. It will hit the lower clubs really hard alright. Sure theirs nothing we can do about it anyway. Whats done is done.

I have mixed opinions about the World Cup break as will be wall to wall football on tv for at least 2 weeks.

I think the league fixtures could have been arrnaged to ensure no club has an away game before & after the break. There is also no reason games couldn't be played next wednesday as mid week fixture.

I think a month of growth will do a lot of good to the pitches as well.
