    Foot.ie! United v Rovers

Well its time to look forward again and try and get 3 very important points against Rovers this coming Friday night. With Lal gone will there be any surprises to the first team? Will players up their preformances and show what they can really do infront of probably the biggest gate this season?

Heres my guess at what the starting team might look like:

    Gough
    Keady...Clery...Frawley...Carter
    Cretaro...Harty...Reilly...O'Brien
    Murphy...Moran

Hard to predict an outcome, but if I had to guess I'd go for a score draw 1-1.

think carter was wasted on the left the last day maybe midfield and harty just couldnt defend a thing better in the centre

For some unjustified reason i'm positive we're going to beat Rovers.

I just think it's made for the players to prove they are capable of performing and matching the best on their day.Especially in Terryland,if it was away from home it would be a different story.

    2-0 UTD.

it will be a close game but
If the lads perform on the night we will win

Lets hope the players bounce back back from last friday night with a big performance and we get 3 points that are badly needed

    Its time

the players showed their pride so far this season only 3 players have performed consistently (Goughy,Ronan & Raf) Its time for the other players to reply to their critics.

Not very hopeful but you never know!!!!!!!

Alot of players will have to up their performances, too many passengers
in Athlone. Cretaro and Gough seemed to be the only ones to come out
of the game with any credit.

Alan Keane should be brought in at RB,
    O'Brien looks an injury doubt.

Don't know about that, corbyeire. I think he made a far greater contribution at Sligo Rovers. The ATFC game was one where I would have expected him to exert more control in the middle of the park.

maybe its just that im looking out for it - but he seems to be covering more of the pitch than a lot of others in the midfield

now granted he may not be controlling - but i thought he was showing desire - if you get me

At least he hasn't got hair to worry about. This could be a contributory factor in some of the other players performances.

Hard to be confident of us beating Rovers but there could be a decent crowd and that'd be a big help. Rovers have a generally fairly inexperienced team.

Ya but that inexperienced team are the most consistent in the league. They have yet to lose. They'll lose no more than 3 all season. We have to beat them at least once.Rovers will be confident enough of taking all 3 points in Terryland on friday.
If the players really want it they can defeat the Kildare/Kilkenny combo. However i wouldn't expect to much off this bunch.Possibly the biggest pre madonas to ever play for UTD?

Rovers bark is worse than their bite.

Dunno about that, as we're not playing great either. But we have won our last 2 away games, have let in just 2 goals so far, so if we don't concede early, we should be capable of taking home a point at least.

    From Aertel:
    Rovers have signed experienced utility
man Barry Prenderville and he comes
straight into the squad for the trip to
    Terryland Park.

Ian Maher is suspended. Seamus Long
(knee) and Gareth Cooney (ankle) are
out while Ian Ryan (ankle) is given
only a 50/50 chance of being fit.

    Managerless Galway, beaten just once
now in 18 league games, are without
    suspended midfielder Ciaran Foley and
    Raffael Cretaro (broken jaw).

Mixie Harty is set to move up into the
centre of midfield as Nigel Keady is
    likely to return at right-back.
