Never play leapfrog with a unicorn!!
U.18's were beaten 2-0 by Swinford yesterday in the Quigley Cup first round, the U.13's beat Claremorris 2-1 this morning and the juniors beat Whitehall Celtic in a challenge game 3-0 with a brace by Vinny O'Malley and a goal by David "Spiderman" Hoban yesterday afternoon. Niall Geraghty from Erris United was playing for Whitehall.
Never play leapfrog with a unicorn!!
All eyes focus on Claremorris on Sunday afternoon for the semi final of the Mayo U.16 Cup when Westport United takes on Claremorris at 2:00. Anyone interested in travelling to the game and watch this team in action? Should be a good cup tie.

I just have to say, that I read this stuff on a regular basis, and the anger and such that is felt by the ordinary man on the street on the contents of this is very understandable, when it is a Committee Member of Westport United who plants every seed of doubt upon this here website, and runs off from meetings to tell all to a certain few. This person alone is responsible for all the bickering and bad feeling and they absolutely know who they are, and I suspect that a lot of you regulars are aware of who they are too. There are no paid, professional people on Westport United's Committee; nobody on that Committee has any alterior motives only the good of the Club; those who do have other ideas and resources should join the Committee, but don't, prefer to slur people on websites, text messages and on bar stools. All I will say is please don't believe all that you hear or are told. And it is but a good job that those on the Committee are quite thick skinned and adult about stuff like this, else there would be no Committee at all. Now how is it that there are no other Clubs in the County being talked about and slurred such as Westport United? How come certain individuals on this website are doing it just to their own Club? I can tell you that there are measures being put in place to get rid of the problem person that is the central route of this rubbish.
Can I please, please encourage those of you who are adult enough, to see the this Committee were democratically elected and are doing the best that they can; that's all that can be expected of anyone, please stop this nonsense and get on with talking about Soccer, as was the intention of this website.
Thank you..
club came on here and said it.Those people who slag the club off here do not represent the true Westport United supporter, no matter how they try and say that they do. The elected committee do their best and deserve to be supported, not taken apart at every opportunity. What is even more unfortunate is that people with allegiances to other clubs in the county see fit to join in with their uninformed tuppence worth when it might be better for them to look after their own. I'm sure the 'we're all entitled to an opinion' brigade will be back on here quick enough but when that opinion is based on misinformation and plain begurdgery then it doesn't deserve to be taken seriously. End of rant and fair play to the previous poster. I think he/she has spoken for a lot of real United fans.
Welcome aboard New Countree to foot.ie, the nations' No.1 footie forum. Great to see another Westport man/woman becoming part of one of dahamsta's disciples. Have to say that is one of the most powerful written maiden posts to appear on the site and it is certainly a post of the month nomination!!

Theres nothing better than seeing Covies fighting with themselves
Everytime we have a little go at any other poster we are accused of near 'war crimes' for inciting violence so we feel we are far better off having our own debate on the Westport Utd forum. Only a nonce would think we are fighting against ourselves - we have differences of opinion (which is extremely healthy) -- but we stick together always - and so we dicuss the differences on a Westport thread.
Now get back into that UN compound before we burn your village down!
Quite an astute.........and correct statement!!We are entitled to get our points across and create a debate. Our opinions may differ across the spectrum and reactions may vary between posters and it is these posts, if debated properly and coherently, that could turn around and formulate something positive for the club.
Read the post regarding misinformation and the one issue that comes across in my mind in that bracket is this little tale of underage money being used to pay the junior football manager. Absolutely no truth to that story and there wasn't a shred of evidence posted on foot.ie to back that particular claim. Anyone that did debates at school were told to back up every statement they made with facts.

I'd like to thank you for your welcome to this site and your kind comments upon my maiden post!
I do think that difference of opinion and debating issues is totally healthy and I do thoroughly enjoy reading this thread. I do have a healthy interest in Soccer, with, of course, Westport United being where my true heart lies and I do follow other teams within the county and do watch English Soccer.
This thread/website should be fun and informative, and I will continue to read it on a daily basis, and I must admit I won't have a whole lot to say for myself, as I don't believe I am qualified, such as yourselves!
Keep talkin' and keep debating! (Nicely, of course!)
Some clubs don't bother at all though which is a shame as it would at least cover refs expenses for the day. In Westport's case it wouldn't be uncommon to take in a few hundred every home match, obviously more for big games like when they play Celtic.
