SORRY miss took the word paying for playing.
However thats where it ends, I would perfer if you would not wash your dirty washing out for everyone to dry, it would be better serve if you delt with the matter in house. regards to lacky and H2o if we were deprived of it, it was due to poor goverments of the past, however I don't intend to go there.but regards to your own club what I said you appear to have agreed, by not no coment.

I read your first post regarding you concerns of the Youths in UTD FC. All I can say is that the youth section of the club seem to have got their act together over the last two years with the club winning the top U-12 league in 2005 and the U-16 team winning the Mayo Cup in the shock of the 2005/06 season by beating a talented Celtic team. The problem with the majority of the teams is that dont have one strong team as when the likes of Lawless, Schill and Co came together. I cannot understand why this is the case as Westport U-14 GAA are Mayo Champions and Utd would have a much bigger area to pick from (Eoin Torphy is from Louisburg via Celtic)As for the Youths paying for the A & B Junior teams I dont understand your point. Is it that the Youth membership is been spent on the Senior team and not developing the coaching staff at youth level? I will be interested to see what TB has to say on the issue.

you see it doesnt matter winning trophys at u12 r u14 that time should be spent on develorment and teaching kids to enjoy soccer.too many parents r managers of teams which puts them and kids under pressure.as renovator said we have no pitch ,no clubhouse,no training facilitys yet our committe collect money to pay a manager with no coaching bages not even kickstart im led to believe.you have to start at the bottom,if the foundation is weak the building will fall........

I heve to agree with you,and right you are.The amazing thing I have just learned is that B.Connor does not have is coaching badge to manage a Super dopper team.Shame on the League to allow this.

    worried parent and fan.
First of all, welcome aboard quay heart on the nation's NO.1 footie forum.

Yes, I heard that the AGM is set for the 30th January at 8:00 at the Castlecourt Hotel.

I would implore all the fans, fair weather and die hards to attend the AGM if they value their loyalty to the club.

It is an imperative that the parents attend the AGM as they are the voice representing the concerns of our underage footballers.

Underage football should not be cast aside in the dispersal of club finances as the vast majority of membership comes from that bracket, ie, the money should not be invested solely in the junior team. Underage football is at least as important if not more important than the junior team as they are the future of the club and if the underage is neglected, the whole structure will eventually fall down. I can relate back to 1999, and the talk within the club was that it would fold in five years. I was angry at that prospect and it made me really feel having to do something about it, and watching underage football, apart from one team, it was honestly an abyss. The last couple of years saw an improvement but there is honestly a long ways to go. Some of the coaches have done Kick Start 1 and a couple did Kick Start 2 and one of them is with the FAI Local Emerging Talent Programme. The club needs a strong, definitive schoolboy/youth structure in place before moving to the next level. In the last ten years, clubs in the province have caught up and overtaken Westport United in their underage structures.

With regard to the Junior Manager, there is a rule in the Mayo AFL Rule Book that Super League managers must have an FAI Youth Cert badge. I know his coaching qualifications have been questioned over the season.

Personally speaking, I want to see the parents at the AGM and I want to see everybody with the club and football at heart at the AGM and I would like to see the next committee to progress the club towards the centenary in a positive frame and to develop the kids and meet the goals to shape a great future for the club.

Westport are torpedoed with injuries for Sunday between Cam, Eoghan, Lovejoy and Alan Mac. Kenno is back and Burkey shall debut. Louisburgh Lion has a slight injury but should be ok!!

Congrats to the U.18s on trouncing East United 6-2 last weekend. Have Salthill Devon in the Connacht Cup Quarter Final. Hard luck to the U.14s after bowing out on penos. Wasn't at either game.

    Lotto jackpot is now €15,300!!

Just to let ye know BOC is doing his Level 1 youth cert the last week in Feb.He had planned to do it last summer before he got the Westport Utd Job which would have been the off season for his previous club Corrib Rangers. He could not do it as the amount of games played in the summer of the Mayo League season so had to cancel the course.

Its now the off season with Westport so he will have it done soon as was waiting for a course to come up.

That seems to be the story around Westport. I'd rather invest money into the club if it was looking towards the bigger picture, underage development, facilities, competing at a higher level long term. Progression for me would be the long term aspiration of the club to get the structures in place so that entry into the Eircom League would be a viable long term goal. Accepting mediocrity is unacceptable in 2007. It is time that everyone in Westport United rise and meet the modern day to day challenges of football and bring the proud and historic club forward rather than be cocooned in a time warp of living on past glories, which stunted the direction of the club over the years. People prefer to relate to 1969, 1987 and 2005 rather than concentrating on our precious future, our kids and our grand-kids.
