While i can accept that tv cameras shows that probably a penalty no one has been able to explain how could be a red card when a defender on the line?

From the highlights on the City side, the defender would have had to slide in through the back of him to get the ball as he was not level with him. There looked to be a few feet (not much, but possibly 3 or 4) between them. Fair call by the ref I say.

Richardson is a gob****e, this isnt the first time this season that he's thrown the toys out of the pram but he's completely lost it this time.
He is a disgrace with his comments, his own team is filled with a bunch of cheating ****ers but according to him somebody is out to get them - their team.
It is his fault that Cork are losing games and nobody elses, if Cork fans are stupid enough to fall for Richardsons attempts to deflect the blame for Corks losses then they are worse than him.
A quote from the interview "I want to keep my integrity" - Rico after an interview like that you have no integrity - if you had any you would resign after your disgraceful comments

just saw it once on friday night and cant remember exactly where each player was..however, when its a defender that takes the forward out and there is still a keeper there, a red card will result so why shouldnt it be a red when the keeper fouls the forward with only a defender left?

Looking at it on TV, I thought it was definitely a penalty. The red card was harsh though. I don't think it stopped a goal being scored. Yellow would have been fair.

There is not serious punishment in order here ..... a member of FAI staff was in the paper not so long ago with unsavoury comments about the league and absolutely nothing happened as a result. The fact that nothing happened in that case set the height of the bar then. If something happens to Rico here then they will completely show the double standards within the FAI and actually just prove without doubt what Rico is saying.

They cant have it every way to be fair !!

Face, is it not fair to say that Rico is blaming his and Lennox's failings on refs. We are all subject to the stupdiity of these referees and saying it's a Dublin conspiracy is pathetic because it would also affect two other title challengers - ourselves and Drogs.

Stokes gave a free out during our match vs Linfield even though it was a Linfield player who crashed into his own keeper. He is a fool but I wouldn't say he is biased.
"The Derry fans were fantastic in both matches. They sang their hearts out all the time and created an even better atmosphere than the Cup Final. They were brilliant. - David Graham, Gretna striker

Face, forgetting punishment for a minute, can you clarify:
    (a) do you think it is OK for any EL manager to make the comments that Rico made in that interview?
    (b) do you think that Longford Town would be entitled to an apology from any EL manager who caused damage to a dressing room door by kicking it in?

No offence Face but something better happen Rico here. Our manager received a 1000euro suspended fine for saying **** all about a ref. He was fined 100 and the 1000 is suspended unless he says something else by the end of the season and if he does then he gets whacked with that, which is a disgrace. What Sean Connor said aint even half as bad as Rico said there.

I'm just looking forward to the fact that every club that gets a goal up on Cork from now on will be singing: 'Ridden rock solid, you're getting ridden rock solid, ridden rock solid....'

In normal circumstances no it wouldn't be.

They would be entitled to an apology, but if it gets totally blown out of proportion sometimes it doesn't help the situation. I dont know the full details here so i obviously cant say either way. My only guage is some of the Longford fans on another forum.

But long story short .... apology should and will definitely will be given.

Normal circumastances? You mean ones that don't effect Cork? I would imagine if this was any other manager in the league, Cork fans would be on here shouting off about how stupid it was to do and that absolutely nothing calls for that kind of childish outburst, that is degrading to the league and worthy of punishment.

But then again, when it is the king of the rednecks...

Well the fact remains. That was a game Cork City should have been looking at winning. Rico seems to have gone from being incapable of winning the League to being incapable of winning the Cup.

On a serious note City are weaker this season not only in terms of quality but in terms of numbers. He lost four players if you include the English departees mid season last year and replaced them with two Under 21 players. By my reckoning that leaves City 2 short of what they had last season. And the recent injury crisis at Turner's Cross has illustrated that.

Face, methinks you are clouding a very straightforward issue.

It appears you are suggesting that in Rico's the circumstances were not normal? If so, can you clarify in what way were the circumstances not normal? If not, can we assume you agree Rico's comments were out of order?

Phew, that's completely out of order. Anyone who thinks that this is in any way acceptable should ask themselves what their opinion would be if another manager came out with the same response? He has really let himself and Cork City down with this interview.
