    Women at eL games

this has probably been discussed before, but i'm just pondering the issue at the moment...

when i first started going to EL games (about 15 years ago, when i was 8 or 9) i would often have been the only female at the match. that obviously isn't the way now, the proportion has increased greatly, but women are still a significant minority. I'd say at Bray it's maybe 10-15%, increased by the teenage girls who only come to hang around and look at the youngfellas.

What's the situation like at other EL clubs? And are there many women on the club or supporters' club committees?

Do ye think attendances at matches could be improved by making the league more attractive to women? Or continuing the idea of promoting it as a family game?

Or would it not make any difference, are women just not interested in watching EL soccer?

(started thinking about this after reading the GAA thread, my experince always having been that there is a much larger proportion of women/girls at GAA matches than soccer, presumably because it is more family orientated/community based etc)

    Thumbs up

I have noticed that there are more women staring to go to EL games. I have gotten my other half to go to matches recently and now she loves the buzz. Which goes to show that footie games don't have to be a man's thing. Bring the other half along and make it an enjoyabke event for all.

    Sad, very sad

A good few women go to the Drogs matches alright, and they're a great addition - great seeing them get into the buzz on their own backs!!

However, blokes that bring their other halves to matches are pretty sad imo -ye just don't do it!!

Pats have always a huge amount of young girls supporting us. Not sure why. Personally prefer that Miss Dodge has no interest in football (bar Freddie Ljungberg and Thierry Henry apparently)

Quite a few at Rovers, mostly teenagers who go with their dads, and some of them are not bad looking either (the girls that is, not their dads ) Could do with a few more of them though.

Since when have you been a girl (or a homosexual ), honestly I didn't know..........

Anyway, there are a good few females who go to the games but one in particular is hot, she is a milf

My gf hates the eL, though she plays for Stella Maris and loves football and was part of Noel Kings barmy army for a brief spell. She is a premiershít fan............

I started going to Mons games when I moved back to Monaghan and wanted to get my sons into going to games and since their dad was many miles away I took them. Had always had an interest in the Mons and went to the odd game when they played in Dublin when I was a student. Grew up in a football house so altho in my early years I rebelled against footie to wind my brother up so we could fight and he would get told off for annoying his little sis, I grew into it. Liverpool, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and then the Mons.

Soon I got addicted to the live football buzz and even when my kids were away with their dad for the weekend I would go to the Mons games on my own sometimes or rope a mate in. After about 2 seasons going full time to the games I decided to hold my sons 9th birthday party there and had 12 boys under the age of 10 at the match and for food in the clubhouse after. One of the committee members who I had been talking to a few times talked me into being on the Silver Jubilee Committee as he reckoned anyone who could control 12 hyper kids could take on anything! I have been working with the club a few years now and have brought more of my friends along and they have become fans....my 14 yr old sister is now coming to games with some of her mates too. I pushed for the last few years for a womens team and now they are up and running and 2 of the girls from the team are now on the committee making our female count on the Management Committee 5 out of the 15....not a bad ratio!

It is great to see more and more females getting involved in clubs and going to matches....the future is pink my friends!

Just focus your vision on her for a few minutes next time you're in the Showgrounds.

It'll achieve the same net effect, without the need for any caustic substances.....

Quite alot of female supporters attend town games and there would be alot involved in helping out within the club and I know of a few who are involved in the running of the supporters club
