Jaysus I'm feeling dizzy after reading some real sense being spoken on a thread about Dublin City and UCD! Fair play Roo.
Not that it's worth knit-picking, there was no way that there was less than 100.

And bohsbohsbohs it was nearly impossible to tell the attendance from eLW due to the fact that they only showed the goals with no build up in the middle of the park............
Who Cares?!
Its rtengland not rterror!
UCD are well worth their place in the league. CHF are a waste of time. What started out as a small joke has turned into an enormous one. Any EL fan who cant see that is deluded....

Come off it NY ! the whole idea is that if your good enough and gain promotion wether that be through winning the 1st division or through the play-offs then they fully deserve to be in the premier, simple as that ! it does'nt matter if there fan base is not as good as clubs like Shamrock Rovers, Galway or Finn Harps, the simple matter of the fact is that they are a better football side than these clubs, hence the reason why they are playing in the premier division.Originally Posted by NY Hoop
Jesus, you more than anyone should know that there a better side than Rovers, they beat you fair and square over a 2 leg play-off at the end of last season to see who played in the premier.
It has nothing to do with your dislike of the club / management team / director / fan base, it's to do with how they preform ON the field, and at the present moment in time they are the 6th best club side in the republic of ireland ! They also run there finances a hell of a lot better than a lot of other clubs.
What do UCD bring to the league?
Ciaran Martyn, Clive Delaney, Glen Fitzpatrick, Gary Dicker........
"The Derry fans were fantastic in both matches. They sang their hearts out all the time and created an even better atmosphere than the Cup Final. They were brilliant. - David Graham, Gretna striker

No it does'nt actually ! A football club is not in the premier because of the number of fans that turn up for a match, they are there because of how well they preform ON the pitch. Were are they in the league at present ?Originally Posted by sullanefc
No argument they were better than us in november. But they bring nothing to the league, zero. No fan base, no prospect of a ground, no future. Its not personal or anything to do with dislikes etc. They should have never been allowed into the league in the first place. You simply cannot have a club with no fans in the league. When they implode a county that has no league side should be given priority e.g. Kerry, Mayo or Tipperary.Originally Posted by Roo69

Well thats where we disagree. As long as teams like this exist in the premier division, our leagues image is tarnished. It looks amatuerish and pointless. Junior teams probably get bigger attendances.Originally Posted by Roo69

I don't understand your question.Originally Posted by Roo69
I'm with you on this hoop. We should have a league of teams that are well supported.Originally Posted by NY Hoop
I think the best solution is probably a closed shop premier league with teams brought in from Kerry, Mayo etc. Teams with nothing to offer should be booted out into their respective provinsial leagues.
Holy ****, non-UCD fans defending UCD. This is a new one!![]()
The crowd was about 150. Pineapple Stu counted.
You can't spell failure without FAI
So let me get this right, the way i read that is, only teams who have a large support base should be let play in the premier division.Originally Posted by sullanefc
No wonder our league is all over the place with views like that !
Of course that was in jest NYOriginally Posted by NY Hoop

Yeah i defo agree that a county with no eL side should be given a chance, just as Kildare county were, but would they be willing to put forward a club ? would they be able to finance it ? DCFC can rent a ground no probs, but were would say a side from Kerry or Mayo play, would it pass the UEFA licence ?
In a perfect world, i would love to see at least 1 team from each county have a team in the eL, but this is never going to happen.
Where are the teams from Kerry, Mayo etc with huge following, that are dying to get into the Eircom league. Not alone did we win promotion to the premier division, we are now in the top half of the table. On sporting grounds (this is a sport, not a popularity contest, last time I looked.) Do Rovers expect to get into the premier division, by having mare fans than other clubs, in the premier division & not by winning on the field?Originally Posted by sullanefc

Would you go away outta that - great crowds of people supporting teams from Kerry, Mayo, Wexford, Tipperary....Thurles Town perhaps? You know what, we'd have a great league if we could get clubs from big populations centres, like Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Derry, Galway, Limerick, jaysus we'd pack them in then, there'd be thousands going every week, regardless of who was playing who, how their season was going etc etc.
You're missing the point. What is at issue is off the field matters. Even if you were top of the premier or bottom of the first my point wouldnt change. Again you beat us fair and square in november.Originally Posted by Ringo
The facilities are in place in Kerry and Mayo (will confirm for sure in Castlebar sunday) and IF those counties want a place in the league they will, of course, have to pass certain criteria for entry to the league.
IF UEFA criteria are strictly adhered to for next season CHF wont be in the league.
