    Derry on a Sat Night

Hi There, there will be some Cork City fans in Derry this Saturday and I am looking for some advice on where to have a few pints early in the day while watching the Rugby and once that has finished any suggestions on where to head for a few pints before the match. Also once the match is finished some of us will be staying around for a few sociable pints so any advice on where to head would be greatfully appreciated. I assume that there will not be any problems if we are wearing our Cork colors around derry ???

    Thanks

PS : I do have a Derry top that was swapped after the match last year - I guess I could wear this

We had a great night in Derry last year after the 3-1 defeat

The Oakgrove is a grand spot not far from the ground. Ended up in a late night bar in the City Centre, can't remmber the name.

The locals are sound, you can't go wrong really.

Was having sometin to eat in a pub in the city before the game and they asked me (nicely) to cover up my City jersey. They obvioulsy had a general ban on all jerseys. Can't remmber the name of that either, next to one of the hotels near the river.
    I'm what? I'm ants at a picnic?

the bar was probably Wetherspoons which has a ban on football tops in all it's chains. You would have no probably wearing your Cork top around the city.

Oakgrove is brilliant craic on matchdays and similar to the atmosphere in the Horseshoe before and after kick-off. I'm sure you would be loved in The Bogside Inn too but I'm not sure what bars are showing the rugby as it's not popular at all.
"The Derry fans were fantastic in both matches. They sang their hearts out all the time and created an even better atmosphere than the Cup Final. They were brilliant. - David Graham, Gretna striker
