    Farrelly was at the liverpool Academy for three weeks in the pre-season last year and rumours about partridge stem from there. Be great to see richie over here. I was in school with him. played for blakestown C.S. u16 with him and Glen Growe
    so to see him at bohs would be great

    You forgot to add "nearly going broke", which is what happened to quite a lot of the clubs who went down that route in the 70s, I think.

    That was before the days of multi million pound footballers being the norm.
    Any player who plays premiership footy for ten or so years ends his career these days as a millionaire.

    Back in the days you speak of, the players either went into Management/Coaching or bought a pub, the ones that didn't had to get real jobs. So they prolonged their careers anywhere they could.

    These days even average player have made a killing out of football and no longer need to come here for a last pay packet.
