    How things change...

After last night, we're suddenly joint-top scorers in the league... In fairness, after ten games we've only lost once and are clearly very hard to beat. Will the goal flurry inspire confidence? How was Murph last night? Hopefully we'll continues this against Limerick. A draw there would be grand.

True.Having said that some of our earlier performances were to say the least shocking.A brillaint performance last night with some class goals aswell as character to come back from 1-0 down.Murphy was good....a bit of passion was evident from all aswell.
4 points is needed from Lims and Rovers to sustain a serious challenge for the league.
We will beat Rovers at Terryland and a win is by no means impossible against an average limerick side.

Murphy was just an ordinary player last night. Barry scored with 2 great strikes. Reilly was exceptional last night also, playing a central midfield roll and getting up in attack with ease, with his first goal coming from a superb through ball from Carter. For carters goal you could see him from a mile away making a run from 4 or 5 yards from the far side of the goal to get in before the keeper from a corner kick taken by reilly. Foleys goal was an opportunistic (sp?) goal when the defender for monaghan was messing about with the ball on the edge of the box, lost control after it hitting a divet, inwhich foley just took a snap shot and went into the bottom right corner.

Should be some great viewing on eircom league weekly, from A GUFC point of view

correct, it was going 2 or 3 feet wide when it hit a divet and went in, just inside the bottom right corner

Fran was pure class last night by far the best player on the pitch

Its looks like barry has found some form 3 goals in 2 games

if we can get 7 points from our next two games we will be set up for a serious assult at wining the league

    our next 3 games are:
    Limerick (away)
    Shamrock Rovers (home)
    Finn Harps (away)

    Come on united

In order to annoy UCD, the FAI have set up a scheme whereby clubs
that have a history of underachievement, a large catchment area,
and a massive plan, get a bonus point if they win two games in a row.

Trainee is correct, we should aim for seven points from the next two games.

terry you were definetly watching the same game as me

im not out to bash murphy but again he didnt look like he was mad up for it - some poor decisions again - same with derek o brien - why when he has the space to cross etc. he is intent of getting as close to the full back and then take him on - poor

aside from that - great lots of goals

but again a late one -- gough still has the yips from the harps throw in fiasco - what the hell was he doing coming off his line for the last when the slowest player on the pitch was baring down on him

the united defence were on their way - he made the decision easy for the number 10

and as terry said above some fortune about some of the goals - have to say i loved morans second - knew he was going to curl it in as soon as he put the head down after beating two and having a look

now united should take some confidence from this into the important fixtures ahead

If Limerick are an average side and are currently top of the league ..that does not say much for the likes of Galway

I was questioning that statement myself. I think what happened here was he was judging Limerick by what he seen in terryland (which was limericks first game of the season and probably worst performance). Saying that, I wouldnt be surprised if we beat ye again in limerick with the performance we put in this weekend, but our problem is consistantcy (sp?) so its hard to tell which GUFC team will show up on the day. Anyhow, should be a good game with a large travelling support from Galway expected.

I agree Limerick are very consistent at the moment but Galway have beaten them well the last few times they have met.I did not see the game in terryland as i dont get to many away games but I think Limerick have a good settled side now and look hard to beat but i suppose that goes for most teams in the division.Galways problem maybe that they dont always have a settled team and maybe Lally has too many very good players which in itself creates problems with team spirit etc

I don't see what's so special about Limerick.Yes they are doing very well and are consistent at the moment but for the folllowing reasons i don't rate them as high as others might.

    -We beat them comfortably
-They have no players that stand out......we have Cretaro,Murphy etc
-Derek Mcarthy is their super striker
-They haven't played Rovers yet and lost to Dundalk

They'll definitely challenge and you can't knock aany team that's top of the league but i think we'll beat them.

Firstly Nobody said that they are special and having players that 'stand out' does not make a good team and in fairness i was at the Dundalk game and Mooney had an off day and left in a couple of Howlers Btw Dundalk beat ye also .As for murphy and Cretaro ..I agree about Cretaro being a class act but Murphy has noyt impressed me much when i have seen him and according to a lot of your own fans he has not been very impressive.Derek McCarthy is a good goalscorer as he has proved in the past but he cannot get into the Limerick team at the moment and i think that a few players stand out for Limerick namely Robbi Kelliher and John Lestor who has been excellent this year.Colm Heffernan on his game is very hard to stop also.On paper Galway probably have more 'stand out' players and certainly a bigger squad but that doesent mean they can just go out and beat teams handy.Every team in the first division needs to be shown respect and maybe Galway have been a bit complacent because they have so many supertars they think the just have to turn up

big difference from playing them at home for there first game of the season and now.

Kelliher would be there best player and super striker at the moment, and I know there is a few more but the names aren't coming to me at the moment, like Purcell, Mooney etc...

we lost to dundalk too ya know, at least they could score against them.

I think your going into this game conor with blinkers on. Limerick are top of the table for a reason. To me, this will be our toughest game so far this season, and for once will be happy to see GUFC come out with at least a draw.

Agree about us.....we won't win anything on paper and the attitude of alot of our players was unacceptable in recent weeks,Murphy included.
Having said that i do think we'll beat yeeon Friday but i'd take a draw aswell against a fairly solid Limerick side.
