    Irish Officials receive prestegious appointments

Irish match officials have been appointed to officiate at a number of International fixtures in the coming weeks.
Dave Mckeon will referee a B international fixture at the end of the month between England and Belarus. His assistants are Dave Wogan and Marc Douglas. The game will be played at Reading's Madejski Stadium.
Anthony Buttimer will referee Northern Ireland v Scotland at U-21 level.
Ian Stokes will referee Switzerland v China in a full international friendly the week before the World Cup. His Assistants will be Martin Moloney and Ciaran Delaney.
Alan Kelly will referee a full International friendly between France v Denmark also the week before the World Cup kicks off. His Assistants will be Eddie Foley and Barry Mcdonnell.

    Well done to all involved.

For me Kelly is the best ref in the EL. So i'm glad he's getting the honour.

    As for Stokes,

    As for Stokes,
Agreed on both. I think Kelly is by-far the best ref in our league. The profile of the match he's been given - relative to the others - suggests that the powers-that-be in world football agree.

    Congrats to the refs.

BTW, does anyone know if Ciaran Delaney used to ref in the Leinster Junior/Football League? There was one guy there when I was reffing who went to the eL & I think that was him - he was a bloody good ref then, I suppose he has only got better since

Without doubt the worst ref I have ever seen in 20 years in the eL, even worse than Aidan O'Regan!!!

Don't know who the referee in the Derry-Cork game was tonight but he was diabolical- when will refs learn to let the game flow?

This is obviously UEFA's revenge on Thierry Henry for criticising other refs - after Kelly, he'll be speechless!

More than likely the powers in world football know nothing about him directly. When his father is the refs accessor I am sure his scores make him look a good ref. I would hate to be France or Denmark, the man is an idiot, but in fairness to him only slightly worse than the rest.

Spot on Chippie. When your Daddy is the referees assessor for the FAI then you are always going to do well.

Congrats to all the officials involved.

With a little bit of luck (although I doubt it) maybe Irish referees will get some positive press for a change!!
