Was disappointed in the end product, didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know. Thought the bit with all the ex and current english players moaning about the hand of god was hilarious, get over it..

Best bit was boca Juniors, not thats what you call an atmosphere. Still though, greatest player ever iMO..

It seemed more of a post match interview to be honest. It was all about the Eng-Arg match 86. Loved the bit at the Boca Juniors match.
    Couldn't believe Stevie G.
We finally found a man last night that Jose looks up to.

But its a fact. whatever way you look at it, they were cheated.
And some people will be delighted because its the English but its not the way I believe the game should be played. Maradonas genius has always been tarnished in my eyes because of the hand ball.
Interesting to hear the Argentinian writers take that to cheat the opposition is seen as heroic out there, different cultures I guess.

Put in context, with the falklands war there was a deep hate and still is for the English by Argentinians, so in 1986 'the hand of God' was more than welcomed and is still even as famous as the best goal ever scored in the same match by Maradona. If Niall Quinn had scored with his hands against the English to put them out of the World Cup , I'm sure we would have welcomed it with the same delight.

And perhaps of the hype it receives ion the Biritsh (an Irish?) media? He did score a goal with his hand, whilst also scoring a magnificent goal to put Argentina 2-0 up in a Quarter Final. Whilst it was wrong it does not equate to robbing England of a World Cup win, which unfortunately it seems to equate to in this country.

His performances in that World Cup and to a lesser extent in 90 & 94 + His Serie A wins with Napoli amongst other clips of footage I have seen of his magic far outweigh this incident in my book.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

cheating my arse, no worse than the dive Owen took to give England the penalty against Argentine in the last world cup. These thinsg happen every week, part of the game, and has been for a long time. In any case, Argentina destroyed England in that game till the last 15 minutes when Barnes came on..

I remember Paul Scholes scoring with his hand for England and the Sky Sports crew laughing it off and applauding his "cheekiness"

Denis Wise punched one in against Turkey in the Euro '92 qualifiers to ultimately knock us out, never gets a mention. I think it's fair to say he's got less redeeming qualities than Diego as well.

I thought this programme was good crack because of Diego and despite boring Gary.I loved the bit where Diego was imitating Peter Reid trying to catch up with him before scoring that incredible goal. Also thought it was funny that Maradonnas daughter had to keep her arms around his waist so he wouldnt fall from stand with excitment during Boca match.

Yeah Peter Reid looked like someone after 12 pints holding a kebab and trying to chase the last bus home

Wasn't as good as it could've been. Plenty of classic footage was left out or only shown briefly such as when Maradona got paraded at Napoli and tens of thousands turned up in the stadium to see him.....there wasn't even a match on. Then he started juggling a tennis ball...then a golf ball...then a half filled bottle of water and the weight of the water all over the place while diego is flicking it from one foot to the next.

Lads he was MILES better than anyone I've ever seen.

One of the quotations from his autobiography 'El Diego' (available in HMV for fiver!)

    About Peter Shilton:
"The thermos head got cross because of my hand-goal. What about the other one Shilton, didn't you see that one? He didn't invite me to his testimonial....oh my heart bleeds! How many people go to a goalkeeper's testimonial anyway? A goalkeeper's!"

Got to love the thermos head bit

Diego is a legend, best player ever!Anyone read Hand of God by Jimmy Burns?Basically Maradonas life story including things that he probably glossed over in interviews etc such as his ties with the camora (mafia) in Naples, and their encouragement of his use of prostitutes and hard drugs while at the club.Highly recommended.
Oh and hes big buddies with Vialli!Didnt know that before
