    Saturday evening football

Just a quick question for ye, has playing on Saturday's improved yer attendances at all? Or at least, are their more away fans travelling?.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

Can't really tell yet. Bray was up about 10% on last year - but so was Cork, which was played on a Friday. Both had practically the same crowds at them. Shels clashed with Chelsea-Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final, so the crowd was understandably down. Also, both were Dublin (and district) teams, so wouldn't expect any huge increase in travelling support. Sligo'll give a good guide as to what the change will do to away crowds. There was a piece in the local paper this week about the change and plenty of coverage in the national papers, so hopefully that'll do some good to the home crowd.
