Of topic but if Lampard was a Roy Keane type player he'd be the best midfielder ever to play in the premiership. He has no aggression, can't tackle and lacks everything that made Keane the player he became.

Anyway, I agree with your main point. Andy Reid is surely going to have to move somewhere that are looking for a central midfielder. I'd love to see him play there for a few matches. He has all the attributes needed and would get stuck in as much as anyone when his team are without the ball.

No chance Reid could cut in central midfield at the highest level. He will get his chance at Spurs although probaby from the bench initially its just up to him to show if he is good enough. Spurs don't have a recognised left wing player so the role is available...

I've said it a few times but I can't stop comparing him to Emre. I think he could be as good as Emre if played in the centre.

Emre can run & tackle. Spurs play solid middle 2 in midfield with pace on the wings. Reid will not get in ahead of Carrick, Jenas, Davids, Murphy...

Reid's tracking back and tackling has been very impressive this season. Before he got dropped in October only Taino had put in more tackles than him. I think pace is more important if you're a winger which is another reason he'd probably be more suited to Reid. The reason I mention Emre is he was a little chubby left winger at one stage too. Alan Quinn is a player that was converted from a left winger to central midfielder too.

Reid made his Ireland debut in the centre against Canada and got man of the match. His pass for Robbie Keane's goal against Israel was incredible and he is a player that can make them passes on a regular basis.

And especially to Robbie. They seem to understand each other very well.

As well as the Israel goal, I remember Reid picked out Robbie from central midfield at Highbury last season & Robbie headed a sitter wide.

None of that matters if he cannot play at consistent level for 90 minutes. He impresses as a sub as doesn't need stamina for 15 minutes.

You are right there eirebhoy, he is a very similar player to Emre and i really do think that Reid has the potential to be as good as him. He is a very intelligent footballer and can do things for us in the centre of midfield. He did it week in week out at a consistent level for Forest and given the chance he will do it again at Spurs.He is a must for me in the Irish first 11 irrespective of his current position at spurs.

i dont think he can really be considered for first 11 until he his at least getting some good games from the bench!

Must say I've been a fan of Reids ever since his Notts Forest days and genuinely thought he could make the step up when he moved to Spurs.

I think his best course of action now could be to move to a lesser Prem team (a Portsmouth/Fulham/one of the promoted clubs) where he can get a regular spot in the centre, improve his fitness and hopefully prove a lot of doubters wrong...

I still think he is one of the most technically skillful players that we have and one of the few that can play a killer pass...

I really hope he stays injury-free now for a good while so that he can re-establish himself...if so, he will prove to be a very important player for Ireland for years to come...

Speaking of 'fat' footballers, does Andy Reid look any fatter then

without a shadow of a doubt, and he hasn't even had his stomach stapled yet!!

Jan Molby was a tubber and he did quite well in the middle of the park back in the day!!

Paul Robinson, Spurs' keeper, is quite a lard arse himself.

Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo are not exactly skin insects. Good footballers though.
