    League Cup second round details

The dates and venues for the second round fixtures in this season’s League Cup have been decided, with the sole remaining no-eircom League representatives, the Kerry League, handed an away game against Limerick FC. The Kerry side booked their place in the last 16 with a merited extra-time win over Kilkenny City on Easter Monday.

Other notable ties in the second round – which was separated into four pools on a geographical basis – see Cork City handed home advantage for the game against less illustrious local rivals Cobh Ramblers, while Premier Division leaders Drogheda United must travel to their neighbours, Dundalk.

The more the merrier, and if it develops the game then its all good.

Football is very strong in Kerry too despite not having an EL team. More people there playing football now than the neanderthal game.

Exactly the reason they should submit an invitation to join the league. No prizes for guessing who they would replace......

I hope you're not referring to the current league leaders in our league.

Next you be saying that toll bridge in Louth too

BTW those GAA heartlands are slowly being broken apart. Sure even a Rugby team in the Kerry Gaeltacht outside Dingle. In fact they are in the South Munster 3rd division final soon.

So counties without a team in a senior comp. are:

    Tipp
    Clare
    Wexford
    Carlow
    Laois
    Meath
    Roscommon
    Leitrim

    and these 2? yes, no?

    Fermanagh
    Cavan

most gaeltacht areas aren't particularly GAA strongholds despite the organisation's belief that it is synonymous with everything that is most irish - there's football pitches all over conemara and north and west donegal in particular

No of course not. If ye gave up on that rathbane kip and got back the Markets Field Limerick would be a huge force in the league. I know you have a pathological hatred of all things Rovers but there is no conspiracy.

Should be blindingly obvious what club I'm referring to. I'll give you a hint: name changes.

That was 25 years ago, NY Hoop. I don't see why GUFC should be kicked out of the league to accomodate a team from some backwater who wont fulfill fixtures if Liverpool are on the telly.

LOL, I was about to suggest Galway as fitting his 'hint'.

Eh Fermanagh is in the North but I suppose like Derry they could join us!

Cavan has no senior squad but strong enough Junior football, Cootehill and Cavan Town always put it up to the teams in the LMC.
