Good man fc hammer, ignore what I said in the first paragraph THAT I'VE SEEN LIMERICK ONLY ONCE THIS SEASON and thus don't consider myself in the position of being able to comment on them. I'm not going to come on here and talk sh!te like some people do, I'll give my opinion when I'm in a position to do so.

Yeah NOC has started the season well, but I can recall us being up top last season as well (and further in to the season too) and that came to nothing. I was never impressed with NOC's management and lack of tactics last season, and the jury is still out if we're honest. So far he has done well, but as I said I've only seen one game, so no shouting from the rooftops from me. His tactics choked the team last year, I'm hoping the same doesn't happen again and that O'Connor has changed his perspective. We certainley have the players this season.

Regarding the 'gossip from the club', the only stuff that interests me is the Lease situation and any exciting future developments. Am I interested in gossip like the McCarthy affair last year, CP O'Brien, Danny Drew's behaviour etc? No, and again, lets hope that some people have grown up a bit since then and that the only gossip will be purely football related.

Why are Limerick fans always black and white - it's okay to change your mind about something or someone. Just because I think Mooney is a great keeper doesn't mean I can't criticise him for ballsing up if he ever does it. Just because you say that NOC is doing a good job doesn't mean you can't criticise him later if he starts making strange decision and/or leaving out certain players.

Also Jebus, saying that support is a given is not entirely right on this board.
All very well and good, but where's the rebutal to my fourth point, and John's overall point, that discussing the league is going to be pretty boring and fairly sparce this year because of the lack of promotion? To me thats the main point because all the other points is going to be based on personal opinions at the end of the day.

You should go back and look at the details posted about this before the start of the season.

I think bottom line is that any hope we have (given the current lease status) is dependent on a top two finish. Limerick meet every marketing, potential, geographical criteria the FAI needs to put us in the premier franchise league next season (at the expense of UCD, Bray or Dublin City if they finsih bottom). The decision (we are told now) will be a combination of league position and other non-sporting criteria (i.e. what I mention above). This season is all about getting ducks in a line for selection for the franchise league. One of those important ducks is league position. It is not irrelevant. If you would like evidence: (taken from Drogs website but similar statements posted on other clubs websites - this is what clubs agreed to at last agm)

MEMBERS’ DECLARATION OF INTENT IN RELATION TO MERGER WITH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF IRELAND

    Member Club agree as follows:

The FAI National League shall continue its current existence [or shall continue to exist in its current legal entity] through the 2006 season.

The Member Clubs intend that they will wind up the existing entity, FAI National League, at the end of the 2006 season.

The Member Clubs will apply for membership of a new National League to be run by the FAI commencing in the 2007 season when requested to do so.

Member Clubs agree that, accordingly, (as the current National League is coming to an end) there will be no promotion or relegation of clubs as part of the 2006 season. The Member Clubs agree that the National League Rules [20.31 to 20.34 and other relevant Rules] shall be amended accordingly. Placings in the League in the 2006 season shall continue to determine qualification for European Competition in the 2007/2008 season on condition that the clubs have been selected to par take in the new FAI National League.

Member Clubs agree to call necessary meetings and take necessary steps to dissolve the current FAI National League before [date].

Selection process must start early – June /July 2006.

Finishing positions in 2006 will form part of the criteria used in determining the structure for 2007. To establish the sporting criteria ranking to be used – the 2006 First Division champions and runners-up shall be ranked at positions eleven and twelve respectively. The eleventh and twelfth placed clubs in the 2006 Premier Division League shall be ranked at positions thirteen and fourteen respectively.

Did I deal with your point?
