    Under 21 team

Anybody know what is the story with our under 21 team? I first heard that Johnny Glynn was running the show but according to the offical website the position is still vacant. Also some sort of league or whatever has already started as full fixture lists are on aertel http://www.rte.ie/aertel/p234.htm but no sign of GUFC anywhere? Do we even have an u21 team this year?

Well we have a new U21 Manager, former Sligo Rovers U-21 manager Dessie Cawley.

Have you not signed up for a Google News Alert for Galway United? This came through a few days back ...

The U21 competition running at the moment is a 'pre-season' tournament designed to extend the season. Clubs don't have to enter if they don't want to, but it gives clubs a valuable outlet for young and squad players. Was very surprised that GUFC didn't enter.

Dessie Cawley is an interesting appointment. The U-21s have underperformed, both in terms of results and players coming through
to the senior team, in recent years.
