If it's Linfield V Cork how about staging it in Dundalk?
Linfield and Dundalk co-operate in the Dunfield Youth Cross Border project as things stand...no on second thought considering the knacker element that would come out of the woodwork for a game in Oriel , Dublin, Newry or Belfast would be better options.

Non-cooperation with the TV company that has made a massive cash/publicity investment in Irish football. Presumably, they don't want to deal with them because Setanta are jealous of Shelbourne's professionalism and need to "take a long hard look at themselves..."

Heres how i see the final venue...

Drogs v Shels should be at Tolka.
Linfield v Shels should be Windsor.
City v Linfield shoud be Tolka.
City v Drogs should be in Tolka/Turners Cross.

United Park is not good enough for any final pairing.

agree with all of them apart from a drogs-shels final, which i think should be in dalymount

Jesus as long as it doesn't turn out to be a repeat of what happened the last time Linfield played in Oriel Park.

Oriel Park would be too small unfortunately.

Perfect final for me is Cork vs. Linfield in Tolka.

is this a joke or what?

    from shelsweb.... the victimhood continues

Shels call for resignations by Fintan Cassidy

In view of the fact that yesterday’s penalty which was imposed on Shelbourne FC has now been rescinded, the club now calls on the Setanta Sports Cup Committee to resign, in particular Mr Milo Corcoran and Mr Michael Hayes for their part in acting ultra vires to the powers vested in them and in denial of natural justice

even if they went ultra vires, thats acted outside their power to fine shels to the rest of us, natural justice? fúck off, the same rules apply in europe, managers are obliged to give a post match press conferece. they are the rules and you broke them

yet again, shels find a loophole in the rules and get away with it. and try and pretend they are martyrs, being picked on by the big bad setanta men.

can this club do anything with grace, even when they get a result?

Agreed on this and the others but .... will Linfield see it that way ??
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

was just writing about this in the other setanta thread. if the competition is cross border and if there is a team from both leagues in the final, surely it is NI's turn to have the final. one year about sounds fair.

Bit unfair on Cork City supporters to have to travel 300 miles each way on a saturday night. Don't forget ko is 7.45pm which means overnight accomadation required. Cork City had 6000 for home semi final & a trip to Windsor would restrict those that travel to Belfast. Out nearest away group game was 200 miles away.

Similarily i think it would be unfair on Linfield to travel to Cork.

yea but if you hold the final in Dublin 2 years in a row. it basically says that the organisers want to keep all the revenue for the ROI capital, two years in a row. If you were going to do this idea about a stadium in between it should have started last year, with a neutral ground picked. It didnt so you cant change it each year. I know its unfair on Cork but the precedent was set last year by the competition and to change it will look unfair.

I dont think the final was held in tolka last year because of shels,i think it was going to be there no matter who was in the final, could be wrong but im sure that was it.

I think belfast is closer to Dublin than we are anyway so it would be harsh to make us travel up to Belfast or linfield to travel down here, should be in dublin now that we are in the final. There might not even be an argument in the end cos drogheda are well capable of causing a shock.

From a fans point of view though it would be a bigger occasion to play linfield

The final last year was always going to be in Tolka unless it was two Irish League teams in the final in which case it would have been in Windsor Park.

Tolka Park for the final is the fairest option in my opinion.

Why was it going to be at Tolka, surely this is biased. the decision shouldnt have been made until the final teams were known and then a neutral venue picked that suited both.

If the Blues make the final then it's only fair that it's played at Windsor, nice ground & I'm sure the Eircom league boys will appreciate the pitch. And the final is fixed for a Saturday so make a overnight stay out of it (did it twice in the space of 6 weeks last year for the Derry v Cork matches at the X) and Belfast is not a bad spot for a night out. Also you may get more than a few neutrals at the game. If it's in Belfast I will probably pop along myself as will a few other Belfast based Derry fans, as we did last year when we were not even in the competition.

The pitch was muck at Windsor last night in their surprising defeat to Drogs. Tolka the obvious option now.

The defeat of Linfied was not much of a surprise to us. Nor were a lot of the Portadown or Dungannon fans surprised.

When will you take us seriously Pete? Top of the league and Setanta cup finalists. We must be doing something right.

Can you imagine the implosion in Cork if we win the Setanta cup, we would then be champions of Ireland
Hunky Dorys Park - could be worse, we could be going to Old Trafford every other week
