The draw for the second round of the 2006 eircom League Cup was made at Richmond Park this evening and it has thrown up some intriguing ties - one of which sees Shamrock Rovers take on rivals St Patrick's Athletic.
In Pool A, Premier Division champions Cork City have a local derby at home to Cobh Ramblers while Limerick must await the outcome of the first round tie between the Kerry League and Kilkenny City on April 17th to see who they must entertain in the second round at Hogan Park.
Pool B sees 2004 beaten finalists Bohemians traveling to Monaghan United while another local derby is in store at Oriel Park as Dundalk face Drogheda United.
Holders Derry City entertain 2004 winners Longford Town (whom they knocked out at the Brandywell on penalties on their way to League Cup success last season) while Finn Harps must travel to The Showgrounds for their north-west derby against Sligo Rovers.
With four Dublin teams in Pool D, there had to be two derbies on the cards and 2003 winners St Patrick's Athletic host Shamrock Rovers while Dublin City are at home to Shelbourne.
Second round fixtures are scheduled to take place midweek in the week commencing Monday May 8th.
The draw for the quarter-finals will be on an open basis. This year's eircom League Cup winners will receive €15,000, the runners-up €7,500 and the two losing semi-finalists €2,500 each.

Think theres a Setanta Cup place up for grabs for the winners of this competion this year. All clubs should be fielding strong sides, prize money is still terrible though.
