Classic Osam tonight- "This was Drogheda's first chance of the first half." A clip from the second half was being shown.

Some Goal of the Season May is going to be! McWalter's brace, Hutton's lob and Molloy's free were all superb goals.

Deery's volley from Waterford which was scored in April didn't feature in April's GOTM. It's not difficult to get the month right. Clip below

"The Derry fans were fantastic in both matches. They sang their hearts out all the time and created an even better atmosphere than the Cup Final. They were brilliant. - David Graham, Gretna striker

Why did they keep calling Dalymount Park Tolka Park during the highlights of Dublin City v Pats, its only a small thing but shocking unprofessional like

Also was anyone else just waiting for that poor cameraman at Longford Bohs to be blown off the gantry to his death

That's all well and good for someone like you who knows every player in the league but that cannot be said for the entire TV audience or every league patron. Squad numbers help raise the recognition of players and allow match programme editors to have players identified by number rather than people having to write the number next to a player if they can make out what is being announced over the Tannoy.

Trevor: "And now report from Tolka Park..."

Reporter: "Pats beat Dublin City at Tolka Park on friday..."

Then again Dublin City have changed grounds & club name more times then Osam has joked about not being a gambler...

Don't intend to take over this thread on this topic, but (a) I don't know every player in the league and (b) they don't help the recognition of players any more than normal because (i) we already have a system whereby numbers are assigned to players for identification and (ii) I don't know the Shels/Cork/etc squad numbers.

Squad numbers are just about money grabbing in bigger leagues and inferiority complexes in smaller leagues.

I try to watch it most weeks and I continue to be disappointed. Things dont seem to have moved on at all since the programme started.

Patsy McGowenn made the point in his column that he finds it strange why the Cameras are always facing away from the crowd and into empty terraces.

    Most notable for this are..

    Sligo Rovers,
    Cork City
    Waterford united
    Derry City

Just makes the matches look sh1te.

Our cameras face the most vocal and colourful group of supporters in the ground! We've always got a fairly good crowd in the Derrynane Road side. How could you have watched the highlights from the Waterford game last night and said that "the Cameras are always facing away from the crowd and into empty terraces. Just makes the matches look sh1te."?

Yeah but emptier than the Derrynane these days and very little atmosphere in it(bar the family enclosure). The cameras are in the right place IMO which wll catch the singing and colourful support

Don't squad numbers make it harder to record lineups into programmes? I mean you write the number beside the player and then you know who played and in what position as opposed to putting ticks beside numerically ordered players who have been assigned numbers on a somewhat random basis. I much prefer the old school 1-11. It also enables easier identification of opposition in my opinion as I can identify players I've never head of by their number which equates to their position.

So when the new Shed is built you think pointing the cameras at a small little stand about 6 rows high and with houses in the backround is more pleasing to the eye than the Donie Forde stand?

I still stand by the point made about the cameras at the grounds.

There'd still probably be a better atmosphere in the derrynane. I dunno it depends what the atmosphre is like in different parts of the ground then. For now I still think its in the right place

Harder if you want to make it harder for yourself.

I appreciated that a football outfit like yours who sell 5 replica shirts a year, fail to see any benefit in squad numbers but for the big clubs with ambition, it helps merchandise sales.

    Ever one for wuming Peader.

Any particular evidence that Gamble No. 6 jerseys would sell less than Gamble No.20? Or O'Donovan 7 over O'Donovan 12? Does eroding tradition always have to be equated with ambition? An actual big club in Barcelona announced today they'd once again forgo shirt sponsorship in spite of the clear financial benefits. Always thought they had no ambition.

Agree with harry here. Not so bad in cork because they are getting the crowds and have moved the away fans to the smaller stand but the main gantry should be facing the main stand as that is the best stand in the ground generally.

Worst example is waterford simply because you are looking out at nothing. Cannot understand why a small gantry is not built, even temporarily, to put the camera facing the stand. Sligo the same lovely stand but you cant see it on tv. Its all about image and perception.

Believe Derry are looking into it.......
