seeing as both Rovers home crowds this year have been more than 2,000 (higher than bohs and yoursleves btw) and we took 1,000 paying customers to kildare thats bollócks to begin withOriginally Posted by Dr.Nightdub
Here's why they don't show First Division games:
No TV station in the universe is going to broadcast something that's of interest to roughly 1500 people.Originally Posted by pineapple stu

i think You're wrong there actually. The reason they dont show them is because the highlights of matches aren't sent in.If clubs provide footage of the match in the 1st Divison EL weekly will show it AFAIK.

Yeah i will watch it at the end of the day not only am I a Galway united Fan but I am an eircom league fan
I don't think Dundalk have cameras mate. Either way, I'd be surprised if they featured your game.
Derry v Bohs and Pats v Drogs will dominate the discussion.

Did a spider die and land upsidedown on Kevin Hunt's head?
Not sure but why does he keep giving the post-match interviews? Does Farrelly not know what to say after a defeat?! The only interview I remember Farrelly giving was after the Waterford game![]()
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"
I missed it too, but a sleeveless shirt of indeterminate hue and a slightly bemused expression would seem to be surefire certainties.Originally Posted by Hayser(the 2nd)

Surely a new thread should be opened to discuss each week's show, though the response would never change: amateurish, cheaply-done, boring analysis from two people who generally only see the highlights that we see; and, of course, some unamusing reference to how Rovers did.
I think the lads are genuine but it's very poorly done and Setanta's coverage (for all that they've far more to spend on it) is a country mile better.
Yeah it's not the most professional production... I thought it was a bad weekend for us but losing twice over the weekend was even worse!!!![]()
With Scully there why don't they even mention the First Division? Would his lack of knowledge come out or something?!![]()

Yes indeed alot of changes made RT. But Galway would be well equipped and would make the necessary changes at all levels to succeed in the Prem. Anyway the point I was trying to make was to do with first division coverage. We thought the same RT when we were in the first division and its the same topic again. The first division will never be covered in a highlights programme of just over 30 mins.Originally Posted by Rogue Trader
Its a case of clubs helping themselves. We moaned for years that we never had games shown. Then Sligo Rovers took the issue in hand and got a local company to record games, edit them and send it to TV3. Which meant they had to show it.
If there are first divison clubs doing this and not being shown on TV3 (which i doubt) then fair enough they have a case. But if clubs dont take it upon themselves to do it themselves, then no point complaining about it. things wont change - the first division will never be fully covered and nor will it be.
The league's concern should be that it's only getting 30 mins of exposure per week., which isnt even hitting a prime audience. TV3 would be better pre-recording on Mondays and airing the show earlier on a Tuesday night.
Nice comment from Genesis...
So I suppose we should be grateful to have eircom League Weekly because it's more than we deserve[EXCLAMATION MARK!]23. There should be a camera at EVERY premier game. Why was this not mentioned?
I would like to see the grounds full first and then the cameras will have to follow!![]()
There was so UCD v Bray. Not sure if it's our fault or theirs. Well, that's assuming you accept a club can be at fault for not sending footage to them. I can't recall if there was a camera there. Don't see why there shouldn't have been. 5 goals missed.
IMO the camera qualities are so poor tv just prefer to show a few decent clips & spent the rest of the time talking. Most highlight shows of other leagues focus on action.
They done that with the Drogheda match - showed some scrappy play in the middle of the park ffsOriginally Posted by pete
