I think that there would be a market for a good quality independent publication. Fanzines are normally sold outside the ground - can't see there being a problem with them being sold at the turnstile area.
I'm thinking of making a fanzine this season. Do you
think its a good idea, will there be enough people willling
to buy it. how many programmes do they sell every game?
would terryland/united have a problem will the sales of
a fanzine? It would prob be better if it was free i.e with
loads of ads. i'm just at the design stage now

Definitely go with it! It's good craic, and there's a small bit of money to be had too. STIG sells to about 4-5% of people at a game - so given our crowds and yours are about the same, that'd be about at 25-30 copies a game. Doesn't sound much, but at a quid a copy over a season, that's E500.
how many do ye print? what does it cost to make each fanzine?Originally Posted by pineapple stu

We print about 25-30. Not being smart! Just that after five years, you get a feeling for how many you're going to sell. Add an extra five or six for the contributors I suppose. The bigger games, we might do 80. The fanzine covers two games, so we print less for the second game obviously as many of the regulars will have a copy already.
We took advantage of the generous people in UCD who left printers and computers lying around to aid students' studying, so printing is by and large free. I know the Drogheda one (don't know if it's still going) bought paper, ink and a small printer and printed theirs off on that. It'd cost about 5p per A4 page or so.
At the start - then it was done for free by someone who got his staff to print it outOriginally Posted by pineapple stu

Will all the money made from sales of the fanzine go to the club or just a certain percentage of it?.

rarely, if ever, go to the "parent" club. They are usually used to cover production costs, buy flags etc. In some cases a fanzine may sponsor a player.
if this project gets the go ahead,,, and it does make some moeny, then ill prob put it back into buying a flag or twoOriginally Posted by Patrick Dunne
