Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Which you shouldn't have needed to point out because it's in the article. Above there. Not even on a link, right above there. First post in the thread. (Or rather it would be, if I hadn't deleted it.)Originally Posted by Dodge

ray houghton played for ireland, but temporarily switched to britain to play in the commonwealth games footabll tournament, then back to irealnd afterwards.
all hypothetical, but still it wouldnt be right. athlets shuoldnt be switching countries to play in various competitions to suit themselves
it is a easier competion she is stepping down she is not good enough to compete in top level international or european distance running so she will compete in less competitive competitionsOriginally Posted by Dublin12

If she races for Australia in the Commonwealth Games. She's just racing for a different team, at a separate competition she may not be eligible for otherwise.
She's already won medals for another team apart from Ireland.

After all that
Sonia O'Sullivan, who was due to run for Australia at the Commonwealth Games, has lost her battle to overcome a hamstring injury.
The 36-year-old former world champion has pulled out of the women's 5,000 metres set for Friday.
