They'd build a ground in Fingal, backed by the local council. Bohs will find themselves in a situation where finances dictate that they must sell Dalyer and eventually end up ground sharing with Shels out in Donabate.

The groundshare deal is dead. It won't even get to a vote of the members.
You heard it here first.
I personally don't think that the council/government are going to spend 10-20million on sporting facilities for an EL club groundshared or not. We'll hear a lot of promises but after the election the proposed money will evaporate.
I'd imagine Ollies Plan B starts with a T has a few L's in it and ends with a T.
Bohs are rich (in equity) Shels are poor. Bohs have real options, Shels will have to scratch around for whatever they can get. Though, in fairness, if anybody can prevent Shels from ending up in a Rovers type situationn it is Ollie Byrne.

Cogito ergo Bohs
Shels sell their lease on Tolka to pay off their tax bill & Glen Crowe's account with Burdocks.
End up renting Dalyer off Bohs with Pats sharing Tallaght with Rovers. Donabate is a none runner, shels don't have the finance to fund it on their own & the council are not going to fund it either.
Election time next year so promises made now will more than likely be broken next year for some bigger vote getter sceheme especially as according to the latest opinion polls FF is going to lose alot of seats & will more than likely require support of independent TD's to form a government.

wouldn't necessarily write off Donabate yet; I know there is a fair bit of support for the idea within Fingal council, which could kmake it the easy option in the long run - FCC might be persuaded into some version of what SDCC had forced on them - a council owned stadium with Shels as anchor tenants

Morton Stadium???????????

I'm worried by the complacency of the bohs members who are oppossed to the deal with shels Vitruvian Man. This is being backed by the boards of all the clubs, driven by the FAI and bankrolled by threat and promise of Government financial backing. Its a formidable alliance. I can't see the "how" part but I have an uneasy feeling that your supposed opposition will not block the bohs boards wish to row in with the govt and the fai when the crunch comes. I reckon they'll get it past the members by hook or by crook. The bohs membership needs to be much more proactive and vocal in opposing this cosy cartel cause they will outflank you on loopholes and procedures and blackmail
Thankfully thats the last thing that will happen. Its amazing how people forget how much 5.5 acres in almost Dublin City Centre is worth these days. The groundshare deal is over and should be officially over by Monday night. Should also help Pats out as the two grounds in Dublin and genisus will be too. However Shels in Tallaght could be a reality.Originally Posted by Peadar

Who said its being backed by the Bohs board. The former Bohs president said it was a bad deal and I personally know two of the current board who are 100% opposed to it. I guess we in Bohs have heard a lot of leaks on what Monday may well be about and that is why we are relaxed.Originally Posted by wws

We wont be forced into anything. Any decisions made will be made by the members for the good of the club
Only worth that if you liquidate your assets. You'll be without a ground then and have to go somewhere. Cue a groundshare with Shels.Originally Posted by bohs til i die

Selling Dalymount doesnt automatically mean groundshare with Shels
get active bohs members - your misplaced complacency will have the whole house of cards tumbling like a stack of dominoes

Peadar You are not far wrong with the gist of what you are saying except with this sentence
“Bohs will find themselves in a situation where finances dictate that they must sell Dalyer and eventually end up ground sharing with Shels out in Donabate.”
because it implies that there is some kind of desperate financial situation at Bohemians which is going to force our hand and take matters out of our control. That simply isn’t the case. These are our options as far as I can see it.
1. Sit tight. Refuse to ground share with Shels. We can pay our debts - the ground earns the club a huge amount of money every year. The Fai can’t kick us out of the league because Dalymount would still be in the top half of stadia in the EL despite being a kip on three sides. Wait a few years until Shels die then approach the government for significant funding do develop the only show on the north side (no offence to Dub Cit). If they don’t play ball, who cares, the EL is a **** league anyway – we’ve been crap before and no doubt will be again – these things go in cycles anyway.
2. Prop up our financially stricken rivals (who have dodged tax to compete with us) - groundshare with Shels in Dalymount. Accept less than half the market value of what we are giving to Shels as well as the Shelbourne imposed “parity clauses” which ensure that Bohemians don’t get any on pitch advantage over Shels. The only sweetener to this deal is a vague promise that government will provide the funding to bring Dalymount up to a modern standard.
3. Realise the enormous equity contained in Dalymount (€30-60 million), Go it alone and build a new stadium on a green-field site. Who needs grant money if you are that rich. Use the 20million change to completely dominate the EL for many years to come. 15 leagues 24cups lets see if 20 million lids can put a dent in that record.
4. As three above except take Shelbourne (or Dub Cit) into the new stadium as a junior partner in order to secure government funding – use the even greater slice of cash in the bank to dominate the league for even longer… blah blah blah you get the picture.
Oh and by the way what happened in Rovers (and could happen to St Pats) with a small number of people pocketing the money from the land sale cannot happen at Bohs due to our constitution and our Tax status. The members cannot make any profit from the sale of Bohemians property and the money MUST be used for sporting purposes.
wws the immovable force of our complacency can only be disturbed by the irresistible object of your house of cards* so stick that in your Pope and smoke it.
*built with dominoes.
Cogito ergo Bohs
so bohs members will fall down and do what there told as usual yeah? thought so....
I know that you're financially stable now but you are just ticking over which could restrict you from growing as a club.Originally Posted by Vitruvian Man

Bohs will have to sell dalymount sooner or later.
You made significant losses in the last few years & accounts quoted here a few months back don't suggest any change of balancing the books anytime soon. You can continue to sell off sections of the ground but will soon has such small space to be financially unviable.
Bohs would be better off looking to move to greenfield site before they are forced to do so. It is a waste of assets to use exisiting valuable site as a football pitch.
