    that makes no sense whatsoever
if the reason why they are "loaded" (bullsh.t btw) is the equity in the ground - how do they realise that by selling up ???!?!??!

they'd only have to buy new land at the same inflated prices elsewhere and than spend a fortune again building from zip

The land they control now would increase in value if it was rezoned, given it's prime location with respect to the city centre. They would look to build their new ground on land which was zoned to allow for a sports/recreation facility.

wws, you are right and you are wrong. We (the membership) at Bohs realised over two years ago what the financial implications of our success / lack of success (depending on what way you want to look at it) and took measures to address our situation. We are now two years down the line of addressing this situation and are making money from our stadium that we should have been doing up to that point.

Although nobody could argue that we are flush at the moment, at least we are in a position where we are managing our debt with a certain amount of comfort and are budgeting for our football in a more reasonable fashion than had been the case for the four years previous to this.

I also believe like other Bohs supporters that we can strong in defence of what is best for our club in the face of opposition to FAI/Govt/Shels because we are not reliant on them for anything at this moment in time. As others have pointed out, we are sitting on a tremendous asset worth a fortune and if we so decided, we could sell it on the proviso of a new stadium being built which we could move to when it was ready and pocket a sh!t load of cash and see then who's going to the Champions League group stages.

Bohs playing sport in Dalymount is similar to a locating a Tractor dealership in D4. The return on investment in D4 property prices would not justify its location.

A local school was offered about 40 million for three of their playing pitches. The school has no interest in accepting the offer because a school is not a profit making business, it's the same with Bohs.

peadar - wot?!?! do you honestly think there is land within reasonable distance....in fact anywhere in dublin that bohs could get for a reasonable and viable fee!?!?!?

this is a red herring - its like the celtic tiger loons who paid 1/2 a million for a one bed shed and think they're loaded cos they own a property

its not a red herring. The club have a few different options open to discussion.

A school is there to service a local community so would need to purchase facilities in the local area anyway. From what i can see very few Bohs supporters come from immediate local community with a lot of people travelling reasonable ndistances to attend games. Tradition i sgood to a point but crowds not great even by Dublin standards. I would see few clubs turning down brand new 10k seater stadium & training facilities outside the city as opposed to 1.5 sided ground in traditional location...

you wouldn't understand, you don't own your own ground!

Today's papers report that a developer is offering the following to Bohemians in return for Dalymount Park, subject to planning permission .
A new purpose built 10,000 seater capacity stadium in Castleknock, with 3 dressing rooms, Bar and restaurant facilities plus parking for 200 cars close to the M50. A special exit from the M50 would also be provide as well as €16,000,000 in cash. There will be a meeting of the membership of the club on Thursday night next to discuss the offer.

"Subject to Planning Permissiomn" means any deal is just a dream.

I see no chance of own exit onto the M50 as the state wouldn't build one for developer in Park West so won't do for Bohs.

Strange that would be swopping land in Castleknock for Phibsboro. I always though land expensive in Castleknock...

Pete what's all this about Bohs moving to Castleknock?? My brother lives there and it's kinda heavily populated isn't it?? I'd imagine buying land there for a ground would be incredily expensive - is there room there for a stadium and would the locals want a footie stadium there?? Jesus, I'd hate to see Dalymount go - whatever people might say about it, it holds great memories for my age group from both LOI and international games.
