From eleven-a-side.com Looks like the knock was pretty nasty.
eircom League Premier Division side Longford Town have been hit with the news that key midfielder Davy Byrne faces a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
Byrne sustained the injury in the second half of his side’s scoreless draw with Sligo Rovers on Monday night after a red-card tackle from Sligo’s Chris Turner.
And the former Shelbourne, St Patrick’s Athletic and Derry City man is expected to be out of action for around four weeks.
The development means manager Alan Mathews will be forced into a reshuffle for Saturday night’s clash with Dublin City at Flancare Park.
Stephen Gough could come into the back four and allow captain Alan Murphy switch to midfield, while another option would see Dessie Baker drop back from his strike role.
