true but in control of a club and advising a club are miles apart.
    It's only just begun...............

Yeah, good point actually .... we are far better off now actually, with or without the money.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Face, i think we were gonna get ripped off anyway. From what i gather City were only put in a position to negotiate such a clause as Reading conceded that they came to know of the clause in a less than fair manner. You can bet that if we got €250k for Doyler at the time, then we wouldn't have got such a clause as this.
Looks like the best of a bad situation to me.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

Risteard, no way man .... sell on clauses were the first components of any contract going back 30-40 years i'd say .... its not like they are a new thing, so much so that they are bog standard additions to any contract.

It was the clause that capped the negotiations being started (help me out, whats the name of that clause again) that catch us, a clause that was 'advised' by a certain 'greatest City fan ever, leader of the Rebel Army' type character. That clause basically stripped our club of its assets and should never be forgotten. It should be taken to our graves.

If that's true, then we will always be robbed.
It's just that Lennox or Jerry Harris said something along the lines of we've finally sorted a sell on clause.
Didn't know sell-on-clauses were that widespread.

Doyle had a sell on clause at a very low value as we all know. Reading did not have to add any further clauses for caps or promotion but i would think city tried to get them in with promise of a quick deal as other clubs were sniffing around & Reading could have lost out.

Clubs will never be sad to pay promotion or international cap clauses as means as is win-win.

Maybe but they only caught on in Ireland after the Keane to Forest fiasco.

But when has football in this country ever been ahead of the game. Its the story of our lives.
