Ignore Max Power, he is no more, the future is Ron Burgundy. I'd love to be Ron Burgundy but they won't let me........

a piece from www.longfordtownfc.com about the tackle

Davy Byrne, in possession in midfield, received a heavy, awkward challenge from Turner, who had studs showing in the tackle. Referee Declan Hanney didn't like the challenge, issuing a straight red card. Byrne didn't like the challenge either and now looks set for a period on the sidelines with a nasty looking ankle injury.

I did. Winced as Turner flew in. Don't think he meant to injure Byrne, he was just a bit reckless. Thought the ref was going to show a yellow, but he was ballsy enough to show red.

    Official attendance 1421.

The only one we will miss is Dillo. We have replaced the rest and yes we do have a nice ground but it could do with being covered in more.

I dont mean to be getting on the matthews out bandwagon with the season just beginning but can anyone tell me the common sense behind putting 5 in midfield and one up front at HOME to Sligo. I mean wat is he afraid of. Whats with the negativity. Fair enough it worked fine versus shels but no offence if we are serious we should be looking to beat sligo every time we play. We struggle to score with two up front never mind dessie on his own. Plus Myler and robbie martin should hav been introduced the instant a red card was issued not with two mins to go.

I think the tactic he played was 4-4-1-1.Kirby seemed to play between the midfield and Baker and he played really well.I don't think it was the best formation and as i have said before if you do play this tactic you need to pass the ball really well and you need to support your striker as quick as you get the ball up there.I fully agree about Myler and Robbie Martin though.Matthews should have reacted to the red card and go all out for the win.

Sonic - we played 4-4-1-1 to start with and created plenty early on and looked lively enough going forward (Kirby 2 chances, Dessie one, Davy Byrne 2 at least). Lost our way a bit as half wore on. As far as I could see we reverted to 4-4-2 when man was sent off, and changed again to 3-4-3 for the last couple of minutes. Realistically we had one decent attempt on target which keeper saved and 4 good chances where we missed target - Kirby, Baker, Byrne and Myler late on - I wouldn't count the header from Paiso as ref gave a corner.

out of those list of chances ronnie only kirbys effort that the keeper made a great save from were real decent chances. Too many times dessie looked isolated and the hoof ball up to him didnt help him. Im not dessies greatest fan but give the man a chance. He looks slightly more committed to the cause this season so far. He looked lively in tolka but i thought maybe that was cause it was versus shels. Maybe he is changed or is this wishful thinking.,

Dessie has moved away from the bright lights of jackeen land and has moved down the country, he is also off the drink. he's in the best shape since he joined the club.

The man has loads of ability so hopefully we can now see him at his best.
