Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit.

If it is to be bettered this year then, hopefully , it will be by Morrissey's new one. Although it'll take a lot to beat it.

Josh Ritter's The Animal Years is a great album.

The year is only 3 months old though

Not sure about this, but I think that's the ONLY album I've heard from this year so far. So, yeah, it's the best of the year so far. But, emm... also the worst.

Was the Strokes album only released in 06? I thought it came out at the end of 05.

Thanks to Kowalski, I heard snippets from Soulwax' new album. And it sounds de-lic-ious.

    I'd have to say Prince's 3121 or J-Dilla's Donuts.

Embrace - "This new day"... not quite as good as Out of Nothing but impressive none the less...

Just recently heard the earlier one (They Lied So We Drowned). Not bad. A bit patchy, but the good stuff is really good.

ah cool i've read as much about that album, their 2nd i think? i don't know them but for this third album so i've only read that they moved away from the dancepunk(?) sounds of the first album to gradually deeper darker waters. you'd have to commend them at least for that coz it seems like they could've played it safe. this 3rd one at times sounds doomed, bleak, chilling, in other words a great fit for our time and space!

I don't know about the 'dance-punk' label. It's just sort of unsettling and experimental. Not unlike something The Birthday Party would have done. I checked out the album you mentioned online, and it is quite different. There's definitely more of a guitar presence on "They Lied..."
