1.We played very well,although it was scrapy in parts.Draw probaby fair result both teams had their chances.

2.Unlucky.Got nothing off the ref at all and hit the crossbar.Mixie then missed chance of the year....put it wide from 6 yards with an open goal!

3.No.Ourselves and Rovers are the teams to beat.We were just as good Rovers all over the pitch....probably better quality but they're well organised.

Good loud and colourful United support.Was dissapointed with the Rovers crowd....weren't loud and i thought there would be more of them.

Think you're being a bit 'hometown' there with your views, especially about the ref and also by not mentioning the amount of time your players were wasting in the second half with phantom injuries. It was taking Gough 5 mins a time to take the kick outs! However I thought the draw was a fair result and the football played by both sides was a decent standard for the division. Maybe only Harps and the two sides last night look potential winners of the league

A sitter at the start of the second half and I don't remember many other notable 'highlights' from Galway..

It was taking Gough 5 mins a time to take the kick outs!

FIVE MINUTES. That's crazy. Why wasn't he sent off? If four of his kick out's were five minutes each, that would've taken up TWENTY minutes of the game.
Maybe you are taking a home-town view of it?

Anyway, I wasn't at the game but I heard it was a game of two halves. Rovers were all over United in the first half and United upped tha ante in the second half. By all accounts, the Hoopsplay neat football and that is always welcome.

All I can say is, that is lies.

Rovers were all over Galway all night, Barry Murphy was not forced into making any saves. Galway came for a point, defended as such, and got their point. They contributed zilch else to the game.

I went on to the Ultras forum and the views there are it was an entertaining 0-0 and we played good football.Played for the draw what game were you watching.Cretaro skinned your left back,we were on top in midfield and looked dangerous when attacking.Yee hit the crossbar and then yee think it was all Rovers.

I don't know what posts you were looking at Conor, but having read and contributed to threads on the game, I fail to see anywhere there was a general consensus of Galway playing good football.

Plenty of Purcell should have shot, plenty of 'I wasn't impressed with Galway', 'they offered little', 'don't think Galway had much else' and that Rovers over-played it too much...

Skinning a left back is hardly worthy of a hihglight, so aside from one attack straight from the kick off, what were the Galway 'highlights' that were good enough to escape the cutting floor?

To be fair it was a pretty even match, I actually thought United had more of the play in the first half and towards the end looked to have settled for the point and Rovers finished the game stronger. There didn't appear to be a lot between the teams and considering that we were away from home it was really up to them to make the play.

United are now the only team not to have conceded a goal in the First Division this season. We've 5 points from not the easiest start to the season, a tricky away trip to Monaghan, home against Limerick who will be one of the stronger teams and away against the favourites.

The one worry is our apparent lack of scoring threat but that should hopefully improve as the season goes along...

I would agree with you there JC. We are actually on the same points total now as we were last season and have scored less goals! Doesnt paint a good picture at the moment when you compare both seasons.

True but our results last season were

3-1 A v Monaghan
1-1 H v Athlone
0-0 A v Kilkenny

I think most people would be happier with this seasons 5 points.

We're actually on an unbeaten run of 11 games in this division now long may it continue!!!

did anyone at the game remember eric controlling a ball knocked forward to him once - his lack of pace was all the more apparent as the game went on

he should have been replaced a lot earlier

have to say murphy played a lot better than ive seen him of late

think the draw was a fair result - got the feeling after rovers hit the post and gough didnt manage to meet it first time but got it away second time, that they were never going to score

true we missed an open goal at the start of the second but they missed a one on one 10 mins from half time that should have been put away

think both teams were guilty of going on and off the boil during parts of the game

and the rovers fans did get very quiet in the second half

have to say im happy with the point and was entertained enough for what was a tough surface to play on

Eric was very poor - looked as if he was well passed it, no pace. He was good in Monaghan. If Barry could get back to his best, he'd be my partner with Murph.
We played good - not great - against Rovers. I think our midfield is fairly ordinary without Foley (haven't seen him play for us yet).
Good result though, and Rovers didn't create that much really...
BTW our starting 11 was: Gough, Keane, Clery, Frawley, Keady, O'Brien, Harty, Reilly, Cretaro, Lavine, Murphy.
