I suppose the question Ipswich need to ask is whether promotion is a realistic possibility if they hold out and keep him. They can gamble and try and hold on until Christmas and see where they are and whether Leicester are still interested, but right now £8 million looks an extremely generous price and they probably won't be offered anything higher.

Leicester pull out after they didn't meet Ipswich's valuation. Crystal Palace might still be in for him: http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/updat...chs-valuation/

Mick happy with McGoldrick's response to his disappointment at not joining Leicester as he and Murphy score against Millwall.

Murphy and McGoldrick do it again, Mick full of praise for McGoldrick's efforts.

Stephen Hunt lauds David McGoldrick in his latest article for the Independent.

    http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-30638639.html

Don't see the rush in calling him up because of one good season of 12 or 13 goals at Championship level. Sure Simon Cox had that and look how that turned out. As it stands Cox has 2 more goals than McGoldrick and Murphy has 3 more goals so he'll have to show more than he's presently showing to knock down the door and overtake them as options.

Is it all about the stats though? I'd have thought it's more about the type of player he is and whether he is different to or can complement anything we already have.

Hunt strikes me as a very clever reader of the game. I suppose you have to be when you're not technically the best player around. I've been very interested in his columns for the Indo and I'll take his assessment of McGoldrick as a positive. I can only assume this is confirmation that he's committed himself too.

Hunt's columns are very good and very insightful. He never struck me as being smart but there a big difference between being smart and well educated / erudite.

If he wrote a book I'd think of buying it on the strength of his columns.

Great article by Hunt. Have been watching McGoldrick this season and he has certainly matured and has become very consistent. He is a very hard worker, holds the ball up well and is able to draw midfielders into attack. Good in the air too and has a fierce shot in him. He is also very quick and I think he could be an excellent partner up front with Long. Together they will keep defences busy, however on the negative, can't see them scoring lot of goals. Oh, for a young Robbie to appear!

Hunt is doing commentary for NewsTalk today, he referred to McGoldrick as part of an Irish striking trio for Ipswich - McGoldrick, Sammon, Murphy
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

    McGoldrick takes a decent free-kick:

That was against Blackburn last week.

Very good free kick. Was it a foul in the first place? I'd say the defender was harsh done by.

Ipswich's David McGoldrick and Derby's Cyrus Christie are interested and could be added if paperwork comes through. Christie, a right back, is well regarded.

"He's very strong and he gets forward, a bit like Seamus in that sense although I don't think anyone is like Seamus at the moment," smiled O'Neill.

Fifth (I think?) of the season to put Ipswich 1-0 up in Blackpool.
