No he was a schoolmate of Liveheads. I thought you had that memory to remember every single detail that your read ; )

I'm also pretty sure there was a more northern up towards liverpool connection to the tricky one.

It's close to that, I did a search for the story that I had read, from when he first came on our radar.
He told how he got in contact with his birth mother and she told him her father was Irish.

a simple google of course would answer my questions but, alas, laziness has descended upon me
on loan at Derby, not starting, usually comes on though
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

    He's contracted to Blackburn

I knew he was at Derby but was struggling to recall at the time. You are witnessing here before all and sundry the demise of my mental powers. Or maybe I just am not that fussed about Leon Best.

With the demise of your mental powers, does that mean your guts have stopped working because I want to take over with the guts' test!

At least some of what you say is true, as far as I know. The McGoldricks also have an Irish connection/heritage, but possibly a bit further back than what would entitle him to play for Ireland. I'm pretty sure the article in which David himself mentioned this is in this thread somewhere.

Edit: And I see geysir has posted a link to it again above.

Up into second spot in the Championship, there is a very Irish look about Ipswich
6 Irish taking part, starting with 4 and finishing with 5, both Hunt brother playing
but not at the same time, Noel Hunt getting the winner.

Anyone know of a team in the English leagues fielding more Irish?

Also St Ledger on the bench meaning all the 7 Irish at Ipswich were in the matchday squad.

Oh and I almost forgot, managed by Mick McCarthy!!

    Ipswich Town

    • 33 Bialkowski
    • 02 Parr
    • 04 Chambers
    • 05 Smith
    • 03 Mings
    • 08 Skuse
    • 18 Tabb
    • 12 Hunt (Sammon - 76' )
    • 11 Anderson (Hunt - 83' )
    • 10 McGoldrick
    • 09 Murphy

    Substitutes

    • 01 Gerken
    • 14 Bajner
    • 16 Hunt
    • 23 Henshall
    • 24 St Ledger
    • 28 Clarke
    • 32 Sammon

Would add that McGoldrick did the work down the right wing and put the ball in which was deflected into the path of Noel
    hunt for him to score.

Mick is doing a good job at Ipswich.

Roy Keane should ask him for a job as an assistant.

He would be on a good learning curve and also working with lots of Irish players.

    What could possibly go wrong.

Watched the Ipswich game yesterday. He's a talented player but f*** me if he isn't nonchalant. He would want to improve his workrate a bit if he wants to make the step up. Maybe he's still feeling his way back after injury.

Stephen Hunt was a calming influence; Murphy kept himself busy winning headers and bullying defenders, and he carved a few good chances for himself; Sammon had a great chance to score before Noel Hunt's goal but, as usual, took an eternity to pull the trigger and the chance was lost. I'm getting tired of defending him at this stage.
