Finnan lives in Liverpool, that makes it his home.

I know of no other country in the UEFA top 50 where all the players in the SQUAD play in foreign leagues. In our case it is even worse as they almost all play in one foreign league.
I am not knocking the EPL - it is a very good league and we would be lost without it. However, I do think it is not good that we are not able to produce some home based players. We have no excuse any more as there is plenty of money in Ireland to develop the game.![]()
Thats not quite true though is it, what about say David Beckham orOriginally Posted by Éanna

Finnan was largely raised in England anyway so I don't see what the point of all this is!

Finnan's fate confirmed but he hopes to face Faroes
03/06/2005 - 16:02:56
Liverpool defender Steve Finnan has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier with Israel tomorrow.
The player has failed to recover from a thigh injury sustained in last week’s Champions League final in Istanbul.
Ireland manager Brian Kerr is confident the Limerick born defender will be fit in time to face the Faroe Islands next Wednesday.
Kerr would not be drawn today at a press conference this afternoon at Lansdowne Road as to a defensive reshuffle.
The absence of Steve Carr and now Finnan means the right-back berth could be filled by Manchester United player John O’Shea or Steven Reid of Blackburn Rovers, with Ian Harte making a return to international duty.

Caller to Radio 5 phone-in: There are too many foreign players in the league.
Mark Lawrenson: Why do you think that is?
Caller: Because there are a lot of them.
I hope this isn't true.
I always thought he was one of the most responsible guys in the squad, but wha t do I know...

we should reserve judgement at this time.
I wonder is he the first player to win the Champions League on bail.
I remember reading this in the papers after the man died. He supposedly walked out in front of Finnan's car. I doubt he'll be charged.
I remember it too.Originally Posted by eirebhoy
I think Finnan stayed at the scene and helped the police with their enquiries.
Have Boot Disk, will travel
Trying not to comment on the case, but that would depend on how fast the car was travelling....Originally Posted by eirebhoy

The husband of that woman who was murdered in Naul was arrested because he he wasn't shown very many emotions while the parents of the woman were crying next to him. People are arrested for all sorts of things and when a footballer knocks down someone the first thing that comes into people's head is speeding or drink driving.
All this is true he did indeed stay at the scene and help. The old boy walked out in front of him but as mentioned above it now depends on how fast his car was going regardless. Happened at the Tuebrook junction on Jan 27 he wasn't arrested til April 11 bailed til June 29 when he will be told if a case will be taken against him.Originally Posted by Peadar
No, the first thing that comes into someone's head when anyone is arrested for dangerous driving is speeding. It's irrelevant whether it's a footballer or not.Originally Posted by eirebhoy

I think you'll find that he was arrested for a little bit more than that..Originally Posted by eirebhoy

Seemingly the old aged pensioner walked out in front of him. Unfortunately, Steve was stupedly on his mobile at the time. He could get a jail term.
