Question Preview - Kilkenny City V Monaghan Utd

    18th March 2006
    Kilkenny City v Monaghan Utd
    Kick Off : 7.30pm
    Buckley Park.

What do people think? Monaghan have just played out a 0-0 draw at home with Galway so they are level on points heading into it.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

I think we can just edge it. I reckon 1-0 to Mons with Paul Smyth scoring. Smyth is like our Robbie Fowler, the prodigal son returning with a godlike reputation and its his time to score.

Our defence should be able to withstand anything Kilkenny throw at them.

Come on Kilkenny fans give us ur thoughts!

Really don't have a clue about the squad this year. Seems we have some good young lads and it was a great result last week.

    I'll go for a 1-0 City win.

Kilkenny City v Monaghan United preview

Monaghan United right-back Jim Murphy is suspended. Manager Mick Cooke is waiting on the fitness of likely replacement Paul Whelan. United have no other injury worries. Kilkenny City drew 1-1 away to Cobh Ramblers in their opening game. Like Monaghan United, the Kilkenny manager Aidan Fitzpatrick has assembled a young squad, and a draw in Cobh is certainly a noteworthy result.

The Cats squad features ex-Dundalk goalkeeper Aaron Shanahan and former Shelbourne player Hussein Yazdani, once a Coventry City trainee, while Dundalk loanee Christopher Doran put in an impressive perfromance in Cobh. The excellent surface at Buckley Park should make for an entertining game between two footballing sides. Kick-off on Saturday is at 7.30pm.

Great result last week - I'll go for a 1-0 City win.
Monaghan will be much tougher opposition than they were last year though!
A win would be a great start for us
