Lads, can any of you post this on the Shels web site about the closure of the Shed side of the Carlisle, just need to make as many people aware of this as possible

Bray Town Council has given permission to Bray Wanderers AFC to remove the 'Shed' from the west (Seymour road) side of the Carlisle Grounds.

The Shed is one of the oldest surviving elements of the facilities at the Carlisle, and has been in need of attention for many years.

It featured as part of 'Croke Park' in the film Michael Collins.


The final impetus to remove it came when the Club was informed that it would not comply with the minimum standards required for FAI Club Licencing.

General Manager Jack O'Neill said they had been in discussion with the Council for some time, and he was delighted that the decision had finally been made.

"Work on the removal of the structure will start within the next few days, and it may involve some dislocation for fans, particularly at the Shelbourne match," he said. "We regret any inconvenience this may cause, but it is one step backward in order to take several steps forward as soon as possible after that."

It is understood that a planning application for replacement facilities will be made to the Council very shortly.
