Does anyone else think that overall attendances are in freefall, I would of thought that attendences would of been up during the world cup, when Wimbledon is on for example it is quite difficult to get a tennis court anywhere likewise it is difficult to get a snooker table when the world championship is on as the TV coverages generates a lot of interest, maybe people all out playing football instead of watching it.

The only thing that will save attendances is having big crowds at the biggest games so can gauge over a full season.
Whatever about in freefall crowds are certianly not increasing at any meaningful level.
It seems to be a mixed bag in the First Division, but every club in the premier (other than those just promoted) has seen a significant drop in attendances this year compared to last...... And Crowds since the summer started are horrible throughout the league!!!!!!! Summer football is apparently a great idea every second year..... Well at least the european chamionships aren't until 2008!Originally Posted by londonred

Pinneapple me old mate, I missed the Bohs game at the RSC due to work committments here in Dublin so no fear, I wont get under your skin this week, but WLR stated that the attendance was approx 350 which was absolutley shocking.Originally Posted by pineapple stu

theres no way there was only 100 at Dundalk-Kilkenny. A poor crowd alright but 300 odd
1100 at Sligo-Dublin City, per RTÉ. Revised up from 700 early on, which goes to show taht you should never listen to early crowd figures...
heard 500 at gufc v kildare, source drunk though!

Poor crowd at Drogheda-Pats. We had about 2/3 of what we'd normally bring, the home terrace looked about 2/3 as full as the last couple of times we've been up there, couldn't see into the stand. I'd say 1700 plus whatever was in the stand.
Revenge for 2002
bout right, would have said 1200 myself and i'd say my guesstimate is closer. absolutely shocking attendance. i think the club will be changing back to saturday as quick as possible. attandance not helped by dublin city being the club they are. no fans, no talent and no entertainmentOriginally Posted by pineapple stu

I'm suprised by this considering it is a match between two teams competing for the league. We have got good crowds at all our home games so far and long may it continuePoor crowd at Drogheda-Pats. Peader, all knowing sage that you are, perhaps you might tell us where all your "fans"(the Rebel Army[tm]) have gone this season?Originally Posted by Peadar

Anyway, I`m glad its not cause you`re all fickle event junkies or anything like that.....
From Today's Star:*
Sligo Rovers -Vs- Dublin City = 1,100
Bohemians -Vs- Derrry City = 2,000
Drogheda United -Vs- St. Patricks = 3,000
Limerick -Vs- Shamrock Rovers = 1,100**
